TOULOUSE, France – The suspect in an radical Islam-linked killing spree in southern France was killed after police raided his apartment to end a 32-hour standoff, the French interior minister said.
Mohamed Merah, who holed up in an apartment in the southern city of Toulouse, was found in the apartment's bathroom and exchanged fire with police, the minister said. He apparently jumped from the window and continued firing until he hit the ground.
"The killer came out of the bathroom, firing with extreme violence," Claude Gueant, the interior minister, said, adding that the RAID squad had "never seen an assault like it."

The bastard was arrested at least 15 times in his 24 years on this planet. There are even reports of him being handed over to the French forces in Afghanistan. Yet, despite all these incarcerations, NOT ONE SINGLE MUG SHOT was requested or used by the media.
The reports all quote Claude Gueant, the interior minister who desperately needs to be given a few lessons in appropriate semantics (needs to avoid hollywood exegetics).
It would have been far more satisfying to see the morning headlines read "Muhammed Murah, dead" with photos of his splattered bullet ridden corpse smeared on the pavement accompany each report.
Next, a sobbing mother: “He was such a good boy.”
Even though he’s dead, he can still cast his ballot for Obama right?

Savage Rips Media Coverage of Massacre of Jewish Children

Talk show host and best-selling author Michael Savage blasted the mainstream media Wednesday for side-stepping the obvious in its coverage of the massacre of Jewish schoolchildren in France – that the likely culprit was an Islamist terrorist.
That proved to be the case early Wednesday when French elite forces stormed the house of a man identified the likely perpetrator. Not only was Mohammed Merah an al-Qaida sympathizer, he had actually been trained in terrorist camps in the Middle East, according to reports.
“When four Jewish children were brutally murdered in France on Monday, the media immediately began to tell us who the murderer was. ‘It was a random attack. It was a serial killer. I’m disgusted by the media.
The sc....g is dead, he should have been blown up 48 hours ago. Period.
Michael Savage might be a bit of a showman, and he might be egotistical, but he is very sharp. And unlike Rush, Hannity, etc., Savage is not afraid to speak his mind on sensitive subjects. He gets three cheers in my book.
Is this because the raid squad normally surrenders before the even have a chance to fight.

At around 10.45am police decided to storm the flat where Merah has been holed up for around 32 hours after it became clear he would not surrender.
At around 11.25am commandos threw stun grenades into the apartment but did not notice any signs of life inside.
Video surveillance equipment was sent into the flat to determine the suspect’s whereabouts. When it approached the bathroom Merah appeared “all guns blazing” armed with a sub machine gun.
Police say a fierce fire fight ensued and Merah jumped through the window of his apartment. As he did so he was shot in the head and died from his wounds instantly.
Two officers from the elite RAID division were wounded as they stormed the flat, one of them “seriously”.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced an immediate crackdown on those visiting extremist websites promoting terrorism and warned France would not tolerate “indoctrination”.
Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said Merah had recorded his three shootings and claimed to have uploaded the videos to the web.
An investigation is underway to determine whether gunman Merah had any accomplices.
