TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Florida Gov. Rick Scott has quietly signed into law a bill allowing random drug testing of state workers.
The governor's office announced the signing after normal working hours Monday night. The only suspense was when the Scott would sign the bill, not if he would sign it.
The Republican governor already has tried to enforce random drug testing through an executive order. He suspended it, though, due to a court challenge. The new law also is certain to generate a lawsuit.

The outright gall of the governor wanting the state workers to take durg test.
Mac daddy will send his top defender of unions, eric, my people, holder to their rescue. That type of testing is only for people who don’t like or support mac daddy the pathologial liar.
IIRC, the FL law which allowed for drug testing of welfare recipients was shot down by the courts too.
Does that include elected officials? I’ll bet not, and if that is the case, this bill deserves no support.
The same ones who pass thousands of pages of 'law' and regulations without first reading?
They and their staff should be the first tested.
Part of the minimum required “Drug Free” policy standards is a requirement for random employee drug testing, based upon the number of employees of the vendor.
Gov. Scott and the Florida legislature are absolutely correct in demanding all government workers be held to the same minimum standards they demand of private companies.
And I also expect all elected officials to be subject to the same policy.
What? Am I now hearing Florida government employees screaming about a right to privacy and whining about unreasonable search and seizures? ROTFLMAO!
Some are saying that the cost of the program is more than than the program. I say test them with the idea that if you pass the state pays for it, if you fail you pay for it and no welfare. Problem solved.
