Turnout for the GOP Primary in Puerto Rico higher than expected. It helps that the local parties are having their own primaries, and you just walk from the local to the GOP primary next door.
As they didn't have many election officials (only one at my voting station), people were voting openly right there at or near the registration desk. I saw a lot of Santorums and Gingrichs, but not a one Romney - the heavily favored PR GOP establishment candidate.
Thank you for the post, cll.
Can you (or someone on this thread) tell me how to get on the Newt ping list?
And also how to find out about pings- what they are/do, etc?)
Is Puerto Rico winner take all?
Puerto Rico is winner take all if a candidate wins with over 50% with over 50%, which seems to be the case here.
Hang around some more and you’ll learn about pings, bumps and such. A ping is to alert someone to a post or a thread.
Search: freeper lore.
Thanks! I shall. :-) I bet you know that FR is the best source for the latest news & info. It really is indispensable!
Dumb question- why does PR have a primary when they don’t participate in the general election? People from Puerto Rico can vote in the general if they have a stateside address, but there is no vote cast in PR itself.
The general election is subject to the Constitution. Primaries are not and political parties make their own rules. Puerto Ricans are U.S. Citizens and at some point the parties decided to give these citizens a measure of voice in the selection process.
Ah! This is about delegates to the convention. Gotcha.
How is your voting for a third place candidate breaking news?
This is breaking news.Keep your eye on the ball and not the third place spoiler please.
The statement Santorum made, revealed his true federal government first, mindset.
The states have a right to define themselves. We need a President and federal representatives who truly believe and support that fact.
I don’t think Santorum or Romney is that President.
We have a corrupt, Democrat disgrace of a governor, Jay Nixon. He blocked our AG’s joining in the Obamacare lawsuit. He, as well as “our” Senator/BHO lackey Claire McCaskill, needs to GO.
