Indiana Sen. Dick Lugar, who is facing a highly competitive GOP primary challenge, today was ruled ineligible to vote in his home precinct, the Indianapolis Star reported.
The Marion County Election Board voted 2-1 along party lines that Lugar and his wife, Charlene, who own a home in Virginia, had effectively abandoned their residence in the county and therefore could no longer vote there. Only the panels lone Republican voted to let the Lugars keep their eligibility.
The newspaper, however, cited election board attorneys who said the Lugars could resubmit voter registrations using an address of a family member or possibly the Lugar family farm. Lugar had been using an outdated address for a home he no longer owns in Indiana. Lugar has been dogged for months by the revelation that he has been staying in hotels when returning to Indiana for state work.

Then he shouldn't be eligible to run for office either.
Go vote at the UN Lugar. That is your country, anyway.
Good! This CINO has the nerve to run negative ads that his TEA party opponent has missed votes, while he has been pretty much AWOL from the Hoosier state for about 30 years.
:: effectively abandoned their residence in the county ::
Which begs the question: How is he elegible to run for an Indiana office?
I don’t think Dick should bother hiring a lawyer to fight this. The two votes he will be losing won’t be anything close to the margin he will lose by. It will be nice to see this guy go.
This is going to hurt Obama’s favorite Republican. For me, it’s the ultimate Nelson Muntz moment.
You read my mind.
Bastard needs to go. I’d rather a truthful liberal Democrat, than someone who carries a Republican label but is still a liberal Democrat.
Senator Lugar (R - Beltway) will be missed by none.
That is a good question. Are there any requirements for residency in that state to run for office? If not, anyone could run there.
The other question I have is whether Lugar pays taxes in that state since he doesn’t have a legit address there?
Beltway Fever! Dick Lugar got it bad,
Beltway Fever! Indiana’s boiling mad,
Beltway Fever! It’s time for Dick to go,
Beltway Fever! Bye Dick, you RINO ‘ho!!!
This gun grabber needs to retire.
If the primary vote was gonna be close, perhaps this news will tip it to Lugar’s challenger.
Lugar isn’t a total turd but HAS drifted leftward, away from consistent, principled conservatism, as he overstayed his time in the Senate. Time for fresh blood.
It is time for him and Hatch to go, Ditto that McCain. After that, Murkowski ( I think she is vile ) and the other Mainer... Anymore? Gramasty for sure...
Dick is a village idiot from his home town.
U.S. Constitution, Art. I, section 3, cl. 3: a U.S. Senator must, "when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen."
If this guy Mourdock wins the primary, does he have a reasonable chance of winning in November?
Sounds too much like a DC goddam RINO to me.
