Would you vote for Romney?

I have seen a lot of FReepers state that they would NEVER cast a vote for Romney. That is my gut reaction as well. Mitt is on record saying that I will vote for him eventually. His arrogance makes me want to prove him wrong and write in a candidate. But I fear that will lead to 4 more years of Obama. Until I stare at the ballot in November, I don't know for sure what I will do. If it is a choice between Obama and Romney, what will you do?

I will vote my principles, my convictions, my conscience and my beliefs. I will never allow my integrity to be sold, stolen, intimidated or given away.

I may not win every challenge in life, but I will never surrender or beg for mercy. I will not compromise on those things dearest to me.

I completely understand that others will bend with the wind on this and I do not begrudge them, but I simply can’t. Each of us have our own choices to make, based on the many things that make us individuals, but each morning, it is my face that I shave.

I continue to hold that if either Romney or Santorum becomes our nominee, Obama will have won the election on that very day.

My answer is no.

Unfortunately, none of us gets to select who chooses to run for president. Most of the guys or gals who would make a great president want no part of the anal exam that goes with the pursuit of the job. So we end up with dorks like Romney.

But If for no other reason than judicial appointments, you have to vote for Romney. I know he appointed liberal judges in Massachusetts, but the Republican establishment would never allow him to appoint another Sotomayor or Kagan. Give the election to Obama and you will get at least one more far left judge on the court. Can you imagine the highest court running the land just like the ninth circuit?

You guys can all take your principled stands. You will all be shooting yourselves in the foot in the process. Not very bright.

Because of your last statement you have become Barack Obama’s best friend in the world. He cannot win without you. I’m sure you don’t care.

Someone will have to shoot me dead to stop me from voting against BHO in November.

Romney is a socialist and a statist. He believes that govt. is the solution.

You obviously believe what people tell you even when the overwhelming evidence tells you that is not wise. Romney may say he will abolish Obamacare but he still fully supports Romneycare which is the model for Obamacare, and he has his staff going around saying he won’t really abolish Obamacare, just change a few things.

Why would you set yourself up to be a patsy by falling for Romney’s lies?

A vote for Romney is a vote for a continuing succession of RINOs.

If you want to see RINOs running in 2016, 2020, 2024, ad infinitum, vote for Romney.

Billy Boy you want to be a supporter go right ahead, just do not try to disguise it as though somehow you are a superior being to the rest of us.
I am done with voting for liberals just because they have an R after their name.
If Romney is the nominee I will not vote for him for the reasons I have stated.
I am a friend of freedom.
Neither man brings that to the table, liberalism is not freedom.

The point is his record contradicts his words. He’ll say whatever he must to get elected. When he had the chance, he instituted gov’t mandated healthcare, banned guns, and other intolerables. Record > rhetoric.

“Romney says he will repeat Obamacare,” LOL

THAT is exactly what he WILL DO, “repeat” it.

I will not vote for Romney.

Romney says he will repeat Obamacare, hopefully he along with congress can do that.

Well . . . not exactly. Didn't a top aide of his say they weren't really interested in repealing it, just tweaking it. And set up RomneyCare in each state.

I still think if Romney gets the nomination, our chances of having either house of Congress are nil. (Also Romney's chances of winning the general.)

The point is you said he sounds like Obama. He doesn't. Regardless of whether you believe Romney, what he says sounds good. Compare that to Obama; he can't even say the right thing. So, if you take what they say and move three notches left to what they do, we're still better off with Romney. Plus, judging by history and common sense, you would have a lot less likelihood of vetoes coming from a Republican president of Republican bills than a Democrat president. A Democrat president pretty much kills any power a small majority Republican congress has; especially with a president willing to cross the constitutional line on authority.

You say Romney is just playing politics to get elected by saying what he says. Fine, he will still have to play politics while in office. And part of that will be at least somewhat appearing conservative. You won't get that from Obama. Which base would you like to see placated? Plus, Obama wouldn't have to give a rip about re-election.

-- Then he tried to spin it as a `win' because he got something so insignificant I can't remember what it was. --

He got a handshake agreement that Reid would bring the House-passed JOBS bill up for senate consideration.

I don't know what the House-passed JOBS bill contains, but assume it is MORE government spending, another program, etc. sort of thing.

"If you don’t want to forgive him, fine, but his positions now and in ‘08 are arguably the most straight conservative in the field."

Actions speak louder than words. Maybe Romney can win the governorship of liberal Mass again, and this time act conservative. Until then, Romney's record, not his campaign promises, speak volumes.
