The real action that may well decide our next president is quietly going on elsewhere, in the state offices that qualify candidates and parties for the November 2012 presidential ballot. You may not have heard much about a shadowy group called "Americans Elect" (it does not disclose its contributors because of alleged concerns that they might suffer loss of business or social contacts, and because it fancifully but only occasionally declares itself to be a 501[c] [4] tax-exempt organization [though it has qualified as a political party for ballot position in multiple states including Ohio, California, Nevada, and Arizona, which should deprive it of tax-exempt status]). But if you haven't heard of Americans Elect, you soon will.

The fact that they were trying to get John Huntsman to run as their candidate tells me all I need to know.
On the other hand it could be good for conservatives in the sense that it would split our “moderate” opposition.
First of all, the nominee of this Party will get about as many votes as any other unknown Third Party like the Constitution Party or Socialist Workers’ Party. But, there is talk that Dennis Kucinich might be the nominee for Americans Elect Party. I’d love to see that.
If the GOP doesn’t nominate Romney then this turd party won’t matter.
He is not the genius we are told he is.
He is the epitome of the affirmative action Peter principle.
It would solidify the sentiment that we have truly fallen to a tyrannical government, a tyrannical group of power hungry rulers. They will have intentionally manipulated the election to ensure their ongoing rule of the nation.
Following that and the contempt that would erupt from the right (real contempt - not “he stole the election” or “a court appointed president”), new laws and policies would be enacted to allow for preemptive legal enforcement against newly defined “radicals and threats against the government.”
This president is proving that he doesn't need congress to control citizens regardless of the constitution.
But the GOP-e is going to push Romney down our throats, no matter what they have to do. So we may need to consider this alternative. Think about Palin or Gingrich running this way with tea party support.
Bring on the Revolution; I’m down for it.
Trump made a veiled threat to run if Romney wasn’t the nominee.
Obama’s impeachable activities are enough to make crazy people want a third party this cycle, any place where we can lay our rage and work some of it off.
Unfortunately that is the very trap the Marxists are laying and the very outcome they seek. We can all do the math and understand why they would manipulate toward such an end.
They are driving our opinion, our fury, our energy right up the walls and over to the train station, where we in our rage willingly board the car marked, “THIRD Party”, never to be heard from again.
That train boarding has never worked out well for the boarders, so let’s think of something else.
They should run Hillary.
Gosh, does this mean it’s not on the up-and-up?!? /s
Thanks jmstein7.
Yaaaay! Ed Phillips!!! Three cheers for Ed! Hip hip! ...oh, never mind....
We need to have instant runoff or ranked choice ballots so that a third party can never be a spoiler again. It’s silly to have a ballot that doesn’t accurately count people’s preferences, e.g. their second and third place choices if their first place choice does not win.
