The Catcher
March 14, 2012
Life is a risky enterprise. Sometimes we fly high, enjoying great success. But then suddenly we fall into deep disappointments and the haunting reality of failure, leaving our hearts wondering if there is anything worth looking forward to.
At a funeral recently, the pastor told the story about a trapeze artist. The performer admitted that although he is seen as the star of the show, the real star is the catcherthe teammate who hangs from another trapeze bar to grab him and guarantee a safe landing. The key, he explained, is trust. With outstretched arms, the flyer must trust that the catcher is ready and able to grab him. Dying is like trusting in God as the catcher. After we have flown through life, we can look forward to God reaching out to catch His followers and to pull us safely to Himself forever. I like that thought.
This reminds me of Jesus comforting words to His disciples: Let not your heart be troubled . . . . I go to prepare a place for you. And . . . I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also (John 14:1-3).
Life is indeed a risky business, but be encouraged! If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ, the Catcher is waiting at the end to take you safely home.
Home from the earthly journey,
Safe for eternity;
All that the Savior promised
That is what heaven will be. Anon.
Our heavenly Fathers arms will one day catch His children.
Read: John 14:1-6

You Are Budweiser, Again ☻ |
You are down to earth, well grounded, and practical. Some may even call you sensible. You say what you mean and you mean what you say. You're straight shooting and honest.
It's likely that you're more of a productive type than a creative type. You enjoy working hard. You live in the now and enjoy every moment. You appreciate what you've got, and you're also very humble about what you deserve. |

You Are Guinness |
You are hip, well educated, and a bit of a beer snob. It's likely that you live in (or at least drink in) the city. You won't drink just anything, though you are somewhat adventurous about trying new beers. You consider yourself a beer aficionado.
You are concerned with how you look and how you seem. People admire you, and you enjoy being well thought of. You are a social drinker and rarely drink alone. You feel more at home in a cozy pub than in your own home. |

You Are Coors Light |
You are a person who values routine and stability. It's likely that your order the same thing every time you go to the bar. You aren't necessarily on a diet, but you do appreciate a beer that you can drink every day. If anything, you are consistent.
You don't like to change, but you're not adverse to taking risks... especially when you have a few beers in you. The bottom line is that you're out to have a good time. You're all about friends, fun, and letting loose. |
