Reid: New poll on president’s popularity is ‘meaningless’
By Mike Lillis - 03/13/12 04:13 PM ET

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Tuesday dismissed a new poll finding that President Obama’s approval rating has plunged in recent weeks.

The Nevada Democrat said the survey — a joint effort between The New York Times and CBS News — is “flawed” and “meaningless,” suggesting that all public polls are misleading.

“This poll is so meaningless,” Reid told reporters at his weekly press briefing in the Capitol. “It is trying to give the American people an idea of what 300 million people feel by testing several hundred people.

“The poll is flawed in so many different ways,” he added, “including the way the questions were asked.”

Released Monday, the Times/CBS survey found that 41 percent of respondents approve of the job Obama is doing — down from 50 percent in the same poll last month. Meanwhile, 47 percent of respondents said they disapprove of the president’s performance.

Reid noted that few polls during his tough 2010 reelection campaign predicted he would prevail, yet Nevada voters returned him to Washington for a fifth term.

“I don’t believe in polls in general,” Reid said, “and specifically not this one.”

But Reid hasn’t always been so dismissive of public surveys. In fact, as almost everyone in Washington has done, the majority leader has a long history of cherry-picking polls when the results favor his positions.

At the start of last year, for instance, Reid attacked the Republicans’ effort to repeal Obama’s healthcare reform law, citing polls showing the unpopularity of that proposal. Months later, during 2011’s partisan budget fights, the Democratic leader pointed to numerous surveys indicating that more than half the country rejected the Tea Party, which was forcing the Republicans’ hand.

More recently, Reid lambasted Republicans for opposing Democratic legislation to help states weather the aftermath of the recession.

“Seventy-five percent of Americans believe we should help state and local governments put teachers, police and firefighters back to work,” Reid said in October, citing a CNN poll. “I repeat: 3 out of 4 Americans — including two-thirds of Republicans — support the Democrats’ Teachers and First Responders Back to Work Act.

“Republicans in Congress aren’t just out of touch with America, they’re out of touch with other Republicans.”

I’m betting he sure was happy two weeks ago with that 50% poll.

Our lib friends are preparing a once in a life time super vote fraud for the upcoming election. They are going to pull out all of the stops in order to keep king barry in power. Anything and everything. They would rather destroy this once great republic rather than to lose little king barry. Of course the average citizen neither knows nor cares so long as their obama money arrives on time.

More than 25 million of those 300 million are Illegals (but that doesn’t stop them from voting for Democrats, since they will NOT allow Photo ID, nor will they enforce THE LAW).

Everything Harry Reid says is meaningless.

“This war is lost”

“...and it’s very clear that private sector jobs are doing just fine. It’s the public sector jobs where we’ve lost huge numbers, and that’s what this legislation’s all about. And it’s unfortunate my friend the Republican Leader is complaining about that.”

Well of course it’s meaningless. After all, according to the poll, from 2 Obama friendly news entities, The One is upside down. So what more proof do we need to know that it must be “meaningless”?

When one side is so willing to cheat in an election, sure polls are meaningless. Harry knows that. He never seemed to sweat a drop during his last reelection campaign, even when the polls registered deep oppostion to him by Nevadans. But then on election day, when his election machine was mobilized, he pulled out a win in the most populated counties of Nevada.

There was a poll out today (IPSIS/CBS) that had Obama at 50% approval. You can’t pick and choose polls you like. All of them, at this stage, are pretty meaningless. I assume we aren’t going to argue that Obama at 50% means he’s popular?

Poll focusing leads to bad decisions.

Reid also said, when they opened the new visitors’ center at the Capitol, that the visitors had body odors and didn’t smell too good!

But if the polls were about the Right, Dingy would be proclaiming their worth.

It is meaningless. Dead people don’t get counted in the poll. Neither do illegals. And the people that vote 10 times only get counted once in the polls. All those votes will go to Obama, and then some.

My opinion of Harry Reid: Deep down inside Harry Reid sees Obama as a street punk nobody from the sidewalks of Chicago with no experience, no intelligence on world matters or the economy BUT he is head hop at the Liberal Democrat slop trough, so , he has to kiss his ass but he shuts his eyes when he does it. Just my thoughts on this subject.

You are right. All that matter is who controls the balloting. Freecking marxists.

Ok..hypocracy at its greatest.

“The Nevada Democrat said the survey — a joint effort between The New York Times and CBS News — is “flawed” and “meaningless,” suggesting that all public polls are misleading.”

And

““I don’t believe in polls in general,” Reid said, “and specifically not this one.””

But then...

“More recently, Reid lambasted Republicans for opposing Democratic legislation to help states weather the aftermath of the recession.

“Seventy-five percent of Americans believe we should help state and local governments put teachers, police and firefighters back to work,” Reid said in October, citing a CNN poll. “I repeat: 3 out of 4 Americans — including two-thirds of Republicans — support the Democrats’ Teachers and First Responders Back to Work Act.”

So which is it Harry? You don’t believe in polls or you do? Oh I know the answer...
