Mr. Santorum and Gingrich: Time is running out ...

MR. SANTORUM & GINGRICH, PLEASE LISTEN!!! TIME IS RUNNING TO SAVE OUR BELOVED COUNTRY FROM THE DARK SIDE (OBAMA & ROMNEY) (Vanity)

There is not a distinction between an Obama and Romney administration:

Both are anti-assault weapon. Both are pro-abortion. Both are pro-same-sex marriage. Both are pro-cap-and-trade. Both are pro-governmental healthcare and individual mandate. Both oppress religious freedom and are against conscience clause. Romney is a former Democrat; Obama is a current Democrat. Both come from very liberal states, Illinois and Massachusetts.

Time is running out on the possibility to elect a truly conservative President to lead our country out of this mess. We are the most prosperous country with vast land, most industrious working force, most energy-rich, most Christian, most in everything, so there is no reason for us to get in such a mess we are in lest by design.

Newt and Santorum do not have to abandon their ambition to become US President, just change their strategy to get there. They have to abandon their thought on winning the party nomination outright because it is now impossible. But there is a good chance one of them might be nominated at a brokered convention if they start to cooperate RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! They have to find the way to deny Romney as many delegates as possible while maximize their COMBINED DELEGATE COUNT, not individual but combined, meaning there is no more 3-way contest but just 2-way contest.

Now let’s map out the campaign strategy for the coming days and months:

From now to Mar 15/24, Santorum will focus on Missouri to take all 52 delegates, 0 for Romney. Newt will stay away from Missouri or concede it publicly to Santorum due to a mysterious strategy or due to funding.

From now to March 24, Newt will focus on Louisiana to win all 20 delegates. Santorum will publicly announce that he will focus his effort to win Missouri due to the lack of funding or time.

From Mar 24 to April 3, Santorum will campaign in Wisconsin only to win all 39 delegates.

From Mar 24 to April 24, Newt will campaign in NY only to win some of 95 delegates. He will announce publicly that he concede Wisconsin to Santorum.

From April 3 to 24, Santorum will campaign heavily in his home state Penn. to win 72 delegates. Newt will not campaign there.

April 24-28, Newt will focus on Louisiana again to get all 26 delegates.

April 24- May 8, Santorum focus on West Virginia to win 31 delegates, Newt will stay away.

May 8 -22, Santorum campaign in Kentucky for 36 delegates.

April 28-May 22, Newt campaigns in Arkansas for 36 delegates.

May 22-29, Newt go to Texas for 155 delegates. Santorum announce publicly he won’t campaign there. May8-29, Santorum will campaign throughout Californian red districts to peel off as many delegates as he can from Romney, 3 delegates for each districts of total of 172.

May 29-June 5, Newt try to win New Mexico with 23 delegates, Santorum will not go there.

May29-June 5, Santorum go to South Dakota for 28 delegates.

June 5-10, Santorum goes to Nebraska for 35 delegates.

June 5- 14, Newt goes to Montana for 26 delegates.

Neither Santorum nor Newt has to drop out of the race but both have a chance to be nominated.

Cooperate and plan wisely they get 50% chance to be nominated as presidential nominee and 100% chance to VP one. Romney is done at brokered convention, too damaged.

Do not cooperate, they waste their time, money, and energy.

They should but probably wont. The ego factor. I was reading a memoir by Gene McCarthy, taking about the 1968 campaign. Gene couldn’t keep his big mouth shut about Bobbly Kennedy. Instead of reaching out to Bobby’s supporters and saying nice things about the little thug, he slipped into his usual candor mode. So they went to the communist from South Dakota, who lacked the heft to carry the anti-war cause. Gene refused to realize that politics is a bare-nuckled sport.

Newt blew it picking Perry for a running mate. It would not be a good ticket to run nationwide because it has two southerners. I was for him and gave him money. Perry would have made more sense for Santorum. I am on board with Santorum now.

LOL. Newt Gingrich hasn’t picked Governor Perry. It’s all media buzz, with both Newt Gingrich and Perry denying the media rumors.

I think a brokered convention would be controlled by pro-Romney Establishment types and we could wind up with Romney, Christie or Daniels on the Second Ballot.

This is so stupid.

Can someone explain to me how it is possible for a candidate (ANY candidate) to win >50% of the delegates while NEVER winning 50% of the votes in a primary?

I presume nominating Romney will be the end of the GOP. In the next cycle, presuming that the shooting hasn’t started yet, there has to be a way to prevent this GUARANTEED nomination of a loser who never breaks 50%, and in fact seldom beaks 40%.

Stupid, stupid, STUPID.

After 5 years, of having little to do, but campaign and prepare for a campaign, along with lots of money to pay operatives to take care of the formalities.

They call it Organization and Planning. No high office in the land, will be won without it. Even a pathetic loser like Romney can win, when he is the only one who is doing it.

Why do you hate Southerners?

Having the governor of the most prosperous state in the union for the last 6 years as a running mate is somehow a liability?

Because of winner-take-all rules. The same way the electoral college can be won while losing the popular vote. Romney has 39% of the vote now but 53% of the delegates.

The strategy outlined here could help, but Santorum has shown himself not willing to cede any states to Newt. He's been too arrogant. Newt wisely stepped aside to let Santorum have some states rather than split the vote. The problem is there is a hardcore of support for each who will vote for them anyway even if they don't campaign there, as we saw in OH and MI. So one of the two really needs to drop out and endorse the other one if they want to deny Romney enough delegates and possibly have enough between the two of them to beat him. 14 out of 27 upcoming states award delegates disproportionately to the winning candidate or if the candidate gets over 50% of the vote in districts or the state. We need to not only split the vote but to win the state as big as Rick won Kansas to deny Romney precious delegates.

Actually, Romney has won over fifty percent in 7 contests, Santorum in two.

Romney, whatever else, is smart and shrewd in his campaign. He is spending his money where he gets the most bang.

In Florida it was winner take all...and he got like 46% (which in that contest was more than Rick and Newt combined) so he got all 50 delegates...meaining in that contest for 46% of the vote he got 100% of the delegates. In Nevada he had over fifty percent, in Mass and Virginia he had over 50% and got the lions share of all of those.

In Guam, The Marianas and the Virgin Islands, where the other guys didn’t campaign, he got 25 delegates total (100% of the small vote in Guam, 87% in the Mariannas, etc.).

So, he does break the 50% mark on occassion. But overall he’s at 40% of the vote with 53% of the delgates because of the way he is campaigning and how he is spending his money in the states he has to win, and in the places he can win relatively easily where others do not have the time and money to compete.

Look at my table on the GOP Primary Tracker site. It tells the tale. Now, if Rick and Newt were combined, they would have taken 7 or 8 of Romney’s 17 wins to date. Added to their own 10 wins, they would be ahead in the wins and popular vote. But the delegate count would be close to even because of the things I mentioned above.

It’s time they teamed up. Throw in Paul for good measure. I don’t care which one leads the ticket as long as it’s not Obama-lite.

I don’t hate southerners. I AM a southerner and have always lived in the south . . . Alabama no less. I just think a ticket with two (ostensibly) conservative southerners might spook enough voters in swing states to cost them the election. The object is to win with somebody that is at least a half-a$$ed conservative . . . Romney certainly doesn’t fill the bill. Gingrich and Santorum are the best of what is left.

Although still southern, Rubio could help him with the Latino vote. Mitch Daniels might be a good swing state choice. But Chris Christie would end up being a negative. You can only get so far trying to talk like a bad-a$$. He played a good game beating the unions back in NJ, but I don’t think he has staying power on a campaign trail. Voters would grow weary of his shtick pretty quickly.

Because of winner-take-all rules. The same way the electoral college can be won while losing the popular vote.

Totally different.

The PURPOSE of the EC is to MAXIMIZE differences to give legitimacy to a FINAL election which determines which man gets the office.

The preconvention activities of wannabes should NEVER yield a winner-take-all result (well, maybe if one gets 75% and ten others split the 25%). The convention, by its charter, is a deliberative body where all factions MUST be represented to determine the best possible outcome. It is IMPOSSIBLE under present circumstances for the best outcome to be the automatic nomination of someone that 60% of the voters oppose.

It is becoming obvious to me that none of these candidates should be the nominee. Santorum or Paul would be crushed and could cost the House. Gingrich, though I voted for him and I wish he could be President cannot be nominated in this process. And Romney is not even a Republican, really.

I think a brokered convention would be controlled by pro-Romney Establishment types and we could wind up with Romney, Christie or Daniels on the Second Ballot.

I think that the "pro-Romney Establishment types" probably wouldn't/wont try to cram Christie or Daniels down our throats.

Two reasons for this. One, Christie and/or Daniels don't want to be on the losing end of an angry electorate - they have hopes and dreams of the future and know that a brokered convention will anger the base against them. And two, I fully expect that the "pro-Romney Establishment types"; will attempt to throw "the base" some sort of conciliatory bone by giving us (fill in the blank with someone they think is nominally conservative, but easy to control).

Face it, if Romney is crammed down our throats at the convention, no one is going to be happy. Except maybe the Democrats :(

A bit pessimistic I think. I see G.W. Bush style appeal in Santorum. He trips over his words sometimes, isn't a visionary, but he connects emotionally, seems honest and has appeal to the blue collar working man. I think Newt could be nominated or win in a head-to-head. If only that whole Dobson/Perkins religious group had endorsed him instead of getting greedy and going for Santorum, I believe Newt would be the frontrunner now or at least on an even footing with Romney. As far as Romney not being a Republican, I'm with you there. It's scary to think what happens to the party if he's nominated. I also find it hard to believe there won't be a lot of pro-lifers staying home because their conscience can't let them vote for anyone who has such a pro-abortion record and being partly responsible for what they might do.
