But the RNC does not count delegates from states like Iowa in its total, according to the Huffington Post, which first reported the story. The Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses did not officially allocate any of the state's 28 delegates to the national convention.
Many state caucuses are held in a similar manner.
Even though Gingrich has only won two primary contests, in South Carolina and Georgia, and former Sen. Santorum has won seven -- in Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, Misssouri,

Unfortunately but true, it is still considered the “paper of record” even by the conservatives.

This whole spin by the Huffpo is based on these unbound delegates deciding to jump ship and back the guy running a 13 point deficit against Obummer, running 14% nationally on RCP and winning a total of 2 solid red states that even Romney could pick up in the general. Wake me up when Newt is even mildly competitive in a swing state or a place we will need to beat Obummer.

You plying your nonsense again. Gingrich does lead in the Hard Delegate count over Santorum.
To: Gene Eric
The NYT desperately wants Santorum to win the nomination. Sure they do. They'd just love to pit the Boy Scout in a Mr Rogers sweater against Hussein the Magnificent.
He's got structural weaknesses that Obama will draw blood from, and the NY Times knows that (even if some conservatives don't).
