Only one Republican has made Obama squirm
This wouldn't be the first time the media missed the real story. In the wake of a split Super Tuesday, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum scored wins against each other, but it was former Speaker Newt Gingrich who single-handedly drove President Obama into panic mode.

And then there was Newt Gingrich, the Lazarus of the presidential campaign, as the Drudge Report recently called him, ready to rise once again. While the mainstream media stayed focused on the game of checkers between Mr. Romney and Mr. Santorum, Mr. Gingrich forced President Obama into an astonishing game of chess.
In a 30-minute video titled "$2.50 per Gallon Gasoline, Energy Independence and Jobs," Mr. Gingrich unveiled his vision for renewed American prosperity centered around oil and natural-gas production. He demonstrated his unparalleled insight into the intersection of energy, security and prosperity. Mr. Gingrich rightly declared that never again should an American president bow before a Saudi king. Meanwhile, Mr. Obama, stung by his recent half-billion-dollar failed Solyndra boondoggle, began floating his latest green fantasy of harvesting algae to cure the pain at the pump.
Panicked by Mr. Gingrich, Mr. Obama was forced off his game and repeatedly tried to respond, only making matters worse for himself. He stayed true to the Democrats' anti-energy agenda and mocked Republicans for wanting to drill for new oil. This made the president the butt of a joke for Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show": Democrats claim that new drilling for oil won't help us for at least 10 years, but haven't they been saying that now for more than 10 years?

It is notable when the occasion occurs that it is only NEWT the president actually answers when on the stump during his stops around the country.
Obama doesn’t much want Newt’s ideas catching on does he, and has no worries with Santorum and Romney, as neither have any ideas. They are safely stuck in the generalities and the usual campaign pap.
Romney attacked Newt, said this was “pandering”.

They’ve been saying it for more than THIRTY (30!) years, to be more precise.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I just completed watching “Newt Gingrich and The Republican Revolution.” It was without a doubt the most comprehensive review of Mr. Newt’s leadership I have ever seen. I hope you all have watched it, but if not, please take the time and pass it on to everyone you can think of.
I am almost without words to explain how enlightened I have become, and how compelled I am to do absolutely everything I can do to see that Mr. Newt wins this nomination. I feel even stronger now than ever that Mr. Newt must become our next President. Our magnificent America is crumbling before our eyes. I pray that Mr. Newt can rejuvenate his campaign to become our next President. Our country deserves nothing less.
God blessed America in so many ways, I can only hope that God has Mr. Newt in his plans to bring America back to what we as Americans deserve. Mr. Newt needs all of us to help him accomplish this enormous task which will not end on Election Day, but will be the beginning of a new America with a restoration of our values and principles.

“Newt Gingrich and The Republican Revolution.” is very fair and accurate. I’m old eough to have lived through it and that is the way I remember it.
Also, when you consider the ungrateful trash that stayed after Newt left, Boehner, Lindsay Graham, Santorum, etc, and you consider how much was lost on their watch, it’s infuriating! No wonder the Republican establishment doesn’t want Newt back. They are complicit with the Democrats.

That's really the group that is fighting hardest against Gingrich and has done everything possible to undermine and marginalize his campaign. Santorum, of course, is part of it and is simply carrying on business as usual (he was part of the group that, while elected on Gingrich's Contract With America coat-tails, turned liberal on him and forced him out).
Aside from that, however, I'm glad to see this article, which I missed yesterday. I too noticed that Newt is the only one who has made Obama angry and nervous and provoked a response from him.
