SAN DIEGO (AP) — Marine Sgt. Gary Stein first started a Facebook page called Armed Forces Tea Party Patriots to encourage service members to exercise their free speech rights. Then he declared that he wouldn't follow orders from the commander in chief, President Barack Obama.

While Stein softened his statement to say he wouldn't follow "unlawful orders," military observers say he may have gone too far.

Gone too far?? No, its not anything like a July 44' Valkyrie Conspiracy. GI's should have their say, they put their lives on the line. They want a GI who doesn't Gripe??? Lots of Luck!!

1) We are not required to follow unlawful orders, regardless of who gives them.

2) We are required to follow the orders of the POTUS, whether we like it or not. That’s the game we signed up for. ETS if you don’t like it.

Therein lies the problem. Real Marines belong out in the bush, not on FB.

The oath also includes vowing to ‘support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic’.

If the Constitution and the POTUS-apparent clash, what do you do?

I just joined his fan page:

Armed Forces Tea Party
http://www.facebook.com/ArmedForcesTeaParty

...and put in a request to join his personal group on facebook.

He has indicated he will not follow unlawful orders from this President. There is nothing wrong with that statement. Every one in the military is obligated to not follow unlawful orders. He is merely reciting the policy of the military.

They are just mad because he specifically states he will not follow them from Obama, and that he has set up a facebook page to talk about it.

I advised him to contact and join up with:

A conservative Marine being muzzled. Meanwhile, Obama personally calls a promiscuous leftist “law student” activist to congratulate her on stepping up and speaking out publicly.

Talk to your chain of command. Not put an inflammatory statement on the internet.

That’s the game we signed up for. ETS if you don’t like it................................... So, hypothetically, if you are given orders to round up everyone, including your family, in your neighborhood, and put them in cattle cars for “relocation”, you would ETS? I know its an extreme example, but had many in Germany refused to do it in the 40’s, maybe many lives would have been saved.

He has been in the Marine Corps for 10 years. I wonder if he will make it to 20 years. There is going to be a lot of downsizing in the Marine Corps. It really pisses me off when I think of all of the troops who re-enlisted knowing that re-enlistment would mean more deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, now they are getting kicked out at mid career.

What about “unlawful orders” do you not understand?

It used to be that most officers even refused to register with a particular political party, because they wanted two things: non-partisan military leadership based on ability, not political connections; and so the military would not be friends with one party and enemies of another, come appropriations time.

This worked until the Democrat party turned on the military, as well as our national allies who had fought and in some cases died while standing with our soldiers.

As much as the military wanted to be non-partisan, from that point while they would be cordial with Democrats, as Americans, as individuals they stopped supporting them politically.

So the boundary between acceptable and unacceptable behavior among military personnel has changed. So much so that the Pentagon advised Bill Clinton of at least a dozen military bases and an equal number of ships he was advised to not visit, as his security “could not be guaranteed.”

But still the Pentagon strives to keep personnel from expressing overt contempt or even hatred in response to contempt and hatred from the Democrat party, which feels no need to condemn the contempt and hatred expressed towards the military by its members.

This, along with endless, cruel and stupid social experimentation by the Democrats, are just two more burdens our military personnel have to bear.

We are required to follow the orders of the POTUS, whether we like it or not. That’s the game we signed up for.

Some people are foolish, especially younger people, and will sign anything without fully understanding. Young people are taken advantage of, all the time.

They’re still adults, they still took the oath. We’re either a professional military or we aren’t.

I know how it works.

BTW, calling many young people 18, 19 and even in their early 20s adults, is really a stretch. Young people get swindled, hoodwinked and taken advantage of as a matter of routine, by all types.

This is no secret and never has been.

So what’s your point? Minimum enlistment IQ requirements? Only those who are 30 years or older can enlist? Eighteen, nineteen, twenty-year old Soldiers/Marines/Sailors/Airmen don’t have to follow orders they don’t like?

Having read some of the comments at the listed link and viewing the agree/disagree votes, I've concluded that an overwhelming majority believe one (who volunteered to serve) should obey an “unlawful order”. Strange .... guess if it ever comes down to round us up because some of us decent, only a few will disobey the “unlawful order”. Free Speech in the Military? That part of the argument I understand. The “unlawful order” and the overwhelming majority saying follow the “unlawful order”, I do not understand.
