Mar. 7, 2012 - Calls for Newt Gingrich to drop out of the Republican presidential race grew louder when he only scored one Super Tuesday win his home state of Georgia. At a rally in Montgomery, Ala., Wednesday, Gingrich said "we're staying in the race." (/CBS News)

- Newt Gingrich
Newt just bailed on Kansas.
I am bummed.
Go Newt!
Good I’m counting on you, Gingrich!
MSM is pushing the split...WAPO and NYT will be headling this. Both papers probably assigned a couple of “reporters” to each camp to cver these southern primaries...
God love him. What a quote, “There is a big difference between being a good team member and changing the game....
Newt knows Rick Santorum, his MO, and his record of ingratiating himself to the Establishment his entire career, even going off the ledge for them by backing Specter the abortion vote. Rick’s got game. /s
Pennsylvania finally noticed Rick campaigns one way and legislated another.
Would be nice if the southern states would get so informed, before an election instead of after.
And ensuring that Mitt gets nominated. That will be Newt’s legacy.
Santorum 2012
No, Santo can get out to ensure a Gingrich presidency.
Gingrich 2012
When will Newt gain standing? With both Romney and Santorum being ineligible for the office of president Newt has already been injured which, to my understanding, gives Newt standing to contest Romney and Santorum being on the ballot.
If Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul shook hands, made a pact to let the convention pick which one is president and the other VP I think they would come out ahead.
Saintorum can stop that right now, by getting the hell out of a race he will NEVER win.
** President Newt Gingrich-”Our beloved republic deserves nothing less.”
I am getting pretty sick of Santorum!
Eastern Alabama is an extension of the Florida panhandle and western Georgia. Newt is smart to play to his strengths. The South is very critical to whoever is the GOP nominee. Newt is right at this point to focus on Alabama and Mississippi.
He should spend money there because he can beat Santorum and Romney there. If he gets 2 wins, which he has a chance to do, it strengthens his position going into Texas. He needs a couple of wins, as Santorum won Oklahoma. As the Spring comes on he can outfight Rick, especially down South. It’s a tough decision but Newt is right to focus and stay relevant.
He really has caused the best person a lot of problems.
Sounds like Newt is re-enacting the George Wallace strategy. Hold a few Dixie states and claim it gives him a mandate.
Go Newt!!!
>> I am so tired of Santorum.
His breathy spiel isn’t working for ya’? Dagnammit, he’s serious!
After last night’s speech, I realized that all of his supporters are probably family members including all his FReeper cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, stepsisters, stepbrothers, etc...
Busting your chops, Rick. You’re a good man.
Go Newt!!!
Hi, Gene Eric, thanks for the smile.
It’s not about a mandate. No individual candidate is anywhere near a mandate. The old Wallace comparison is a lazy, 60’s way of dismissing the relevance of the South. It’s about giving due attention of a culturally conservative part of our country that gives far more than it takes. Get over the old, worn out democrat stereotypes. This is now!
Not sure I will bother to get up and go the polls for the general election. (Unless the polls show the republican candidate needs my vote.) Want to maintain the ability to claim I didn't vote for the idiot. If he can't win Kansas without me, no way he will win with me.
Come on Republicans! Nominate a conservative!
>> Not sure I will bother to get up and go the polls for the general election.
Our vote is our voice regardless of the toothpicks that claim to represent us.
We hammer, we pound, we hammer, we pound. This is our Country!
