A local school district is apologizing after an apparent incident of racism at a boys high school basketball game this past weekend.
When the final whistle blew Saturday, Alamo Heights celebrated a convincing victory over San Antonio Edison.
Alamo Heights Head Coach Andrew Brewer said he was proud of his team.
Tremendously proud, Brewer said. Tremendously. Its the best group of kids.
But it was just after the trophy presentation when the coach was not proud of the chant coming from Alamo Heights fans.
USA, USA, USA, they chanted.
San Antonio Independent School District officials took the chant as a racial insult to a school with all minority players from a school with mostly white ones.
On the KSAT 12 Defenders Facebook page, Santos Villarreals post reads this has to stop.
Any minute now, they’re going to object to the name “Alamo.”
Which the USA is beginning to resemble, in the sense of being the site of a defeat.
Except men were heroes and resisted to the uttermost at the Alamo.
WOW! Appease the minorities, probably mostly illegal drug running gang members anyways. Maybe they should chant MEXICO in Texas, this is sickening, is there another country on Earth that is so politically correct as America? Seriously. WTF.
Someone should organize a patriotic mob to go to these games and chant USA until these kids are allowed to play, ridiculous.
every thing is racist to those that only see race..ie: democrats....that is disgusting, if I had a kid on that team he would not apologize and I would back him up 100%...My poor daughter was the only girl I had and she had 4 older brothers. When she progressed to high school, she had a lot to overcome with some teachers...the boys were respectful, but had been brought up to think for themselves and they would say NO and take the punishment instead when it came to stupid stuff.
I would take this as students taking a shot at political correctness or just cheering for their country. There’s plenty of other things they could have said. The men upset by this should put on their big-boy-panties.
‘took the chant as a racial insult to a school with all minority players’ ——
why? Are those ‘minority players’, not Americans???
If the other team had won and their fans had chanted "May-hee-ko" would there have been any negative reaction from the media or the officials?
TEXAS ??
How dare they show pride for their own country
They oughta protest the next game by either sitting on their hands and not cheering at all, or just not show up ... make 'em play in an empty gym.
AZTLAN! AZTLAN! AZTLAN!
which is ok ya know /s
It wasn't the team chanting USA. It was the fans.
I don't mind ... providing you put it to good use irritating the hell out of Libtards
WOW!
Pray for America.
Can I still say that?
Can I still do that?
More than a few years ago, we had a local (anglo) high school team playing a (mostly hispanic) team.
The rich gringo kids would toss tortillas as a taunt.
Now THAT made heads explode, let me tell ya.
This happened in -Texas-?
Texas?
That supposedly “conservative” state down south?
The one from which came the saying, “Don’t mess with Texas!” ??
And those “tough Texans” -apologized-?
Apologized for shouting “USA” — in -America-?
Again: apologized for shouting “USA” in America?
What’s happening to Texas? Texas Freepers, please explain...
Who’s winning?
USA USA USA ... Long May Her Flag Wave
Absolutely! Have a good day.
