A St. Petersburg bar landed in hot water recently after a transgender woman was told she could not receive discounted drinks on ladies night.
The bar, Bishop Tavern & Lounge, was quick to apologize on its Facebook page after a protest group formed on the same social networking site.
Recently a concern was raised about how a transgender customer was treated here. We would like to sincerely apologize for this, the Facebook note states. Bishop strives on being one of St. Petersburgs premier nightlife destinations for everyone, without prejudice. We really appreciate the fact that we live in such a diverse community.

Geez, there's those apologies again. Everyone seems to think they have something to apologize for when they've done nothing but state the obvious. The guy dressed up in a dress was still a guy. A rose by any other name and lipstick on a pig doesn't change what it really is.
ONLY IN AMERICA, FOLKS!
You’re not a real woman, go away!
Wait... maybe the Adam's apple DOES give it away.

It would seem on its face Ladies Night is prejudicial and discriminatory.
I met a gentleman about ten years ago who was in his 80s and had worked with his father in his dad’s bar and then inherited it and had recently sold it and retired.
He said it was great, a gathering place for men to discuss politics, sports, world events, eat lunch, possibly place a bet, quite, good company. Then they were required to admit women. Everything changed, the arguments started the fights who is looking at who or talking to who and they ended up with a juke box that led to more problems over volume and danceing. He said he got to where he didn’t even want to open up. I wonder what he would have thought about happy hour, ladies night and transgenders.
Wednesday is 2 for 1 Wig Night!
well that certainly sounds like something that could tie up our entire legal system for the next thirteen years...
Isn’t the reason for a ladies night to get more ladies into a bar? You can wear a dress, but that doesn’t make you a lady anymore than wearing a lab coat makes you a Doctor.
