The largest Boy Scout council in the country responded to the call for volunteers issued by the Salt Lake Olympic Organizing Committee, but the welcome mat was rolled up and the door slammed in its face. Olympic spokesmen for the 2002 winter games say the exclusion has nothing to do with recent protests by gay activists.
While the organizing committee for the Olympic event is prominently displaying a call for local volunteers, they have explicitly let it be known that the Boy Scouts need not apply.
"For us not to be involved is discouraging, considering the Atlanta games. The Scouting council there was extremely involved," said Kay Godfrey, professional Scout executive for the Great Salt Lake Council of Boy Scouts.
A number of executives and volunteers from the council have worked for many months with Salt Lake Olympic officials under the assumption that the Boy Scouts would participate in Olympic ceremonies – until recently.

Read through the article, come to find out, the excuse given was they were under age (>18), however, other volunteers were allowed under age, in fact, the troop leaders with their children could volunteer they just could not wear the uniform.

They want “sluts” to be the role models of little children and force the Rushes to say that it is “good”—which with the brainwashing press and schools, they have been accomplishing with tacit approval of parents for 20 years.
This is an overthrow of Western Ethics—as we know it-—forcing the Atheist/Marxist/pagan worldview. Remember-—Mormons are not Christians and their woman-hating roots go very deep, like it does with Muslims. Homosexual cultures have no unifying mature societies—because of their learned sexual dysfunction and learned hatred for women, which makes mature long term relationships with the opposite sex impossible.

I remember being outraged by this at the time. I had attended a lot of events during the ‘96 Atlanta Games, and the Boy Scouts were everywhere.
From what I’ve read, Rick Perry’s dislike of Romney originated with this very incident.

IIRC the Olympics was going broke in 2002. Then Romney was put in charge of the Olympics, and turned it around.
Seems to me Romney is a wheeler dealer, and makes deals with the Devil as he finds necessary to achieve the ends he desires.
My point is this read indicates to me that Romney made a deal with a Rep. of the Devil, and the Boy Scouts were knocked out of the running in favor of funding for the Olympics by whomever that Rep. of Devil’s was, and Romney protected his/her identity.
Who most of all gained from that event? A Leftist for certain with a case against the Boy Scouts, and their Conservatism, but who?

No, this is consistent with everything Romney said or did before he decided to run for President. It’s silly to assume he was doing this to “appease” someone who helped fund the Olympics, especially since it sounds like the only way he turned the Olympics around was by securing federal earmarks.
