Four sponsors have severed ties with Rush Limbaugh’s radio show after the outspoken host called law student Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute.”
National advertisers LegalZoom, Quicken Loans and Sleep Number along with West Coast ad buyer The Sleep Train announced this week they were pulling all advertisements.
“We don’t condone negative comments directed toward any group. In response, we are currently pulling our ads from Rush with Rush Limbaugh,” Sleep Train wrote on Twitter.
Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown Law Student, was thrust into the spotlight this week after Limbaugh called her a “slut” for her stance on a new insurance mandate that requires employers to cover the cost of contraception.
“What does it say about the college co-ed Sandra Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex, what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute,” Limbaugh said Wednesday.
The radio host’s comments caused customers to lobby advertisers to pull their money from the show or risk losing business.
The California-based Sleep Train has enjoyed a relationship with Limbaugh since it opened its first store in 1985.

This is all silly. She spends 65000 a year at school (or her parents, or the taxpayers). How much does a walmart bag full of condoms cost?
The sponsors are being played here. It’s a bunch of kids from Daily Kos and Think Progress, OWS, etc. re-sending the same emails over and over to these companies. They could care less about the products- they just want to try to take down Rush.

I bought a top of the line, king size, dual control sleep number bed not too long ago. I’m emailing them to let them know it was because we heard about their beds on Rush’s show that we looked into their beds and bought one.
A mob guy probably did it for about $3,000 ~ give or take a few cents.
I listen to Rush daily. I knew at the time he overstepped his bounds. When he said let’s have her make videos of her having sex so we could watch.... I thought oh boy Rush, huge mistake. I am not taking up for the girl but that was a stupid remark.
The guy who owns Carbonite actually uses one of his daughters to sell his services.
This is ridiculous: Carbonite has now decided to stop advertising on his show... even after he apologized:
“...Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.”

I don’t think the name was the problem, I think when he made the comment about taking video so we can be sure she is using the product is what did him in, it smacked of porno, but no one wants to bring up that part of the comment...his slut comment was nothing, I did lift my eyebrows when he made the video comment....bad taste...

Was Carbonite one of the products that Rush would endorse personally? (like the way Laura Ingram does for “Goto Meeting”) - or were they just buying commercial time?
Sounds like Rush told Carbonite to GFY...especially after that message that cited the Monday meeting...
