Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull apologized Wednesday for sending a racist email about President Obama from his office to a few friends.
"To say it's inappropriate and stupid is an extreme understatement," Cebull said Wednesday afternoon in his courthouse chambers in Billings.
"There is no doubt it's racist. It wasn't forwarded for that purpose," Cebull said. "If anything, it was political."
The judge admitted he forwarded the racially charged email he received to seven friends, including his brother, on Feb. 20 from his office computer.
The email eventually was forwarded to the Great Falls Tribune, which published it Wednesday. The Tribune said the email text read as follows:
"Normally I don't send or forward a lot of these, but even by my standards, it was a bit touching. I want all of my friends to feel what I felt when I read this. Hope it touches your heart like it did mine.
"A little boy said to his mother, 'Mommy, how come I'm black and you're white?' His mother replied, 'Don't even go there Barack! From what I can remember about that party, you're lucky you don't bark!'"
Cebull took responsibility, calling it "a hard lesson to learn. I apologize."
The judge said he is not a racist although he acknowledged people will think that because of the email.

But the Blacks don’t see it that way. If he didn’t “look Black,” they would not vote for him. With Blacks, its skin color uber alles! Right now, FUBO is at 86% approval with Blacks. Can’t bring myself to call them AA’s, ‘cause none of them have ever been to Africa and most are not Americans either.
Let’s see, this had to be a Republican. A Democrat wouldn’t even blush at the hypocrisy.

How is a joke that suggests that Obama’s (white) mother was a slut who dabbled in bestiality considered “racist”? Have we sunk that far in our use of the language as a culture - even among our “elites”?
Not only do blacks not see it that way, neither does the state-run, lame-stream, liberal-left, progressive-communist media in the U.S. They constantly refer to this guy as the “first black president” which he IS NOT. He is simply this, the “first Mulatto president”. Know it. learn it, live it.

It was not racist. It was a yo’ momma joke. Last time I looked such jokes are prevalent in a certain community.
He's a judge. The remark was in his off-duty, private capacity. They will have a hard time tossing him off the bench if he does not voluntarily choose to resign.
It's long past time that people become less deferential to "outraged" Leftists.
