Energy Secretary Chu Admits Administration OK with High Gas Prices (Adios Obama!)
yahoo ^ | 2/29/2012 | By Mark Whittington

President Barack Obama's Secretary of Energy Stephen Chu uttered the kind of Washington gaffe that consists of telling the truth when inconvenient. According to Politico, Chu admitted to a House committee that the administration is not interested in lowering gas prices.

Chu, along with the Obama administration, regards the spike in gas prices as a feature rather than a bug. High gas prices provide an incentive for alternate energy technology, a priority for the White House, and a decrease in reliance on oil for energy.

The Heritage Foundation points out that hammering the American consumer with high gas prices to make electric and hybrid cars more appealing is consistent with Obama administration policy and Chu's philosophy. That explains the refusal to allow the building of the Keystone XL pipeline and to allow drilling in wide areas of the U.S. and offshore areas.

The consequences of the policy are not likely to be of benefit to the Obama administration.

I thought civil servants were supposed to serve teh people.

This bunch seems to think they are here to tell us how to live.

I’d call that lousy service.

I wonder what the breakdown of car ownership by race is.

Seems this is punishing the people who can afford cars and who are employed. This administration needs to be held accountable to this financially backbreaking hardship that will send many families out on the street and into their parked cars. Parked, because they cannot afford gas.

But I think this is their strategy- break as many as possible and make them dependent on their new massah.

Chu knows best because he's smart.

Now shut up and go paint your roof white.

When you finish with that you can start on the highway.

Don't worry about the cars, they will be able to see you better on that white road.

... and when the price starts to drop after the summer, He will take credit for it.
Obie will probably release some oil from the Strategic Oil Reserve around August and shazam. Lower gas prices. Oh my Hero.

The Obama administration is implementing the Kyoto treaty and the Copenhagen accords without so much as a hearing before Congress. The ideologues at EPA and the Dept of Energy have declared war on carbon energy sources. This is contracting the economy with higher energy costs and the real misery of unemployment especially in the oil and coal sectors. These ideologues however will never experience the misery they are causing. If Obama loses and they are thrown out of office they will simply return to tenured positions at tax supported universities or tax privileged private foundations. Of course when the Republicans publicize Chu’s outrageous statements, they will be castigated by the MSM as racist.

Poor people need wheels to get around.

Fedgov needs to give them “fuel stamps” to help out.

If we do it right, the existing EBT cards can probably be used, just a little computer programming to make it happen.

Bernanke would be glad to create another 60 bil a year or so, right?

He'll try but all the GOP has to point out is when Obama took office it was $1.82 a gallon.

Maybe toast.
Only if our side’s leaders are smart enough to make such commercials and make the words Chu said understandable in context. Right now, America is so dumbed down, and Boehner and our side are not doing anything vocally to even mention what bills Stinky Reid is sitting on. So in a sense, our side in the Senate and House have done nothing and deserve the 10% approval rating because our side isn’t smart enough to publicize how it’s the Dems who deserve the rating, not the R’s.

I thought civil servants were supposed to serve the people.

They are, but these days it's more likely Lefties be asked what type of wine they want with them, when they're served.

Presidential Election day Nov. 2012: Many voters will stop at a gas station before they go to their voting site.

If gas prices are $4 or more at the pump on election day Nov. 2012, a lot of these voters will be angry when they pay their gas bill and head on to their voting site.

These angry voters may release their frustration and anger over these high gas prices in the voting booth by voting against Obama.

It’s only “Adios, Obama” if the Republicans make a big deal out of it. Will they?

I am pretty sure that EBT is already accepted at the pump. I think I saw a sticker on a gas pump recently.

There's no downside for the administration on this, at least with those who apparently still think he's the bee's knees which according to many polls, is a significant number of mouth breathing ideologues. A great majority of schmuck supporters live in high density urban areas with mass transit and low private ownership of cars, so gas prices don't readily impact them. It takes a lot of effort to show these fools that higher gas prices raise the prices of all of the goods they purchase due to increased transportation prices.

In the rest of the country, the true believers actually think this will usher in alternatives which haven't been properly exploited because of low gas prices. Reality doesn't intrude into the worldview of these people, they are sure that alternatives aren't coming to market because of low gas prices. You can't educate these people, they are stuck on stupid.
