Franklin Graham apologizes for questioning Obama's faith

The Rev. Franklin Graham, under pressure from faith groups, apologized for suggesting that President Obama is not a Christian:

“I regret any comments I have ever made which may have cast any doubt on the personal faith of our president, Mr. Obama,” Graham said in a statement on Tuesday, according to the Religious News Service.

“I apologize to him and to any I have offended for not better articulating my reason for not supporting him in this election — for his faith has nothing to do with my consideration of him as a candidate,” he added.

Graham caused a stir earlier this month when he said hedged on whether Obama was a Christian in an MSNBC appearance — but had no problem identifying Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum as Catholics.

Exactly. Even though the word apologize was used, it was more of a clarification than apology.

Yes, that is the only place Franklin stepped in it. I watched the interview.

The most hateful post i’ve seen on FR in years...and i’ve seen some doozies. In one post you disregard a lifetime of serving Christ, Christian guidance and charity to millions around the world.

Actually, in his original statement Graham very adroitly avoided falling into the media traps, when the reporters kept pressing him.

Then the media turned around and (not having gotten what they wanted) said that Graham had raised the issue (he had tried to avoid it) of whether or not Obama was a Christian.

So, with this later “correction”, I’m assuming the media may also have slanted it to get their agenda across.

Then please explain. As far as I can tell he “Flip-flopped”. Was he threatened to change his story? Did he state anything that is untrue concerning Obamao’s faith?

As an evangelist that is your job, Franklin. It's called discernment. Now, Obama is more confused than ever about how to become a Born Again Christian.

From the intial appearance on msnbc, his “story” has been consistent. His recent statement is a re-statement of his original position. Press jackals have tried to sully Franklin on this matter from the start of this episode. They refused to hear what he was saying in answer to their bully attempts to trip him up. They hear the word “apologize” and take it to mean that he did something wrong to the person known as Obama.

Only time I see that FG stepped in in was when is said he thought Santorum and Gingrich were Christians and saying it to the attack dogs at msnbc who were waiting to tear him apart.

I know he has not changed his mind or position on these matters, although he probably regrets not saying his position more perfectly and irrefutably than he did that morning on msnbc. Thus, no flip-flop.

Enough with the apologies. Can’t we just call a spade a spade? Zero’s brand a Christianity was black liberation theology for TWENTY YEARS.

Neither Franklin, nor his father have ever been conservative.

Real Christians do not celebrate Easter, nor Christmas either. They are both pagan.

Christians celebrate Passover, and Tabernacles, which are appointed by YHVH, not men.
