The Rev. Franklin Graham, under pressure from faith groups, apologized for suggesting that President Obama is not a Christian:
I regret any comments I have ever made which may have cast any doubt on the personal faith of our president, Mr. Obama, Graham said in a statement on Tuesday, according to the Religious News Service.
I apologize to him and to any I have offended for not better articulating my reason for not supporting him in this election for his faith has nothing to do with my consideration of him as a candidate, he added.
Graham caused a stir earlier this month when he said hedged on whether Obama was a Christian in an MSNBC appearance but had no problem identifying Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum as Catholics.
I wouldn’t apologize to Whatshisname. Graham has a right to his own opinion. His work speaks for itself; so does Whatshisname’s.
I’m disappointed but that is over the top except metaphorically
they do a lot of good...i mean a whole lot..and they don’t waste he money or live like Rock Stars
but yes i too am very disappointed
can’t understand why he would apologize
first Catholics invite Obama to Notre Dame knowing how he is
and now Graham...
Southern Baptist leaders make wishy washy statements and want to change their name
most other Christian groups and leaders have long been off the reservation
so what are we left with..a few Pentecostals and Missionary Baptists unafraid...maybe a MO Synod bunch or some Orthodox churches...not sure about the latter on vocal opposition
my church...Thompson Station Baptist...(southern) ...the pastor is very very outspoken on culture war ..no question where he stands
but some SBC rich urban churches are fairly quiet
this is not how I grew up...preachers were leaders and spoke fire
all this “good deeds” stuff was not on the menu
I think my stance would be:
I do not question President Obama’s claim of faith, but if his faith is a given, he would appear to be a hypocrite of epic proportions.
Oh boy, another whimp conservative.
An apology is completely uncalled for, even if he had questioned Obama’s Christianity — which he did not do.
Graham should have said, “I’ll apologize for questioning Obama’s faith when he apologizes to Christians for trampling on our religious liberty with his contraceptive mandate.”
But that would take testicular fortitude.
What do you wanna bet they audit him anyway... with “extreme prejudice”?
He is a Muslim simply because his father was a Muslim. If he converted to Christianity—when and where was he baptized? When and where did he receive First Communion/Confirmation? He was born a Muslim and unless I see proof of his conversion, he is still a Muslim.
We are always told we can’t judge others. That isn’t true. Just two weeks ago during the sermon at my church (Baptist) my pastor said that we certainly can judge the behavior of others when it goes against doctrine and teachings of the bible. We are within our rights to rebuke those we see just as we should expect to be rebuked as well.
This “don’t judge me” stuff is a liberal idea.
Come on, Franklin. Read Bonhoeffer!!!! Read what he says about the “religionless Christianity” so prevalent in Protestant Churches-—even in Riverside NYC in 1931 (that Temple of Baal built by John D. Rockefeller).
That he found joy in the “fundamentalist” churches is clear. That there were lots of evil people like zero who talked out of two sides of their mouth—he writes about—even names pastors.
You know Marxists can NEVER believe in a God. You know that. Zero’s non-belief is obvious. Speak OUT!!!! To not speak, is to speak!!! as Bonhoeffer said as Hitler took over the Christian Churches.
Of course, Bonhoeffer was hanged. I understand your being hesitant...but for the sake of the World, DO WHAT YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DO FOR GOD! Don’t desert Jesus because you are afraid of the steam roller—the press. That is what most Germans did—and look what happened to them. Their souls were damned. But they did manage to live longer. What a trade off.
When asked if Obama was a christian Graham said he could never judge if someone was or wasn't.
But then he went on to say Santorum was a christian.
The problem wasn't that he was non-committal about Obama's christianity; it was that he was showing a clear double standard.
No surprise. Don’t put your trust in men, they will disappoint you sooner or later.
I just love the medias insecurity on the issue of Obama’s faith.
Do you believe Obama is a Christian? DO YA, DO YA, DO YA?????
“I take him at his word.”
Why can’t you just say he is a Christian? Just say it, say it, SAY IT!!!!!
Damn it is right!! Never, ever apologize to a democrat, never.
The days of polite political discourse, if they ever existed, are long gone.
This is a battle to restore and protect the Constitution and the Republic and to remove the National Socialist Democrat Party in this country from the political landscape for good.
If you are going to play nice, worry about insulting them, or are more concerned with a candidates religious convictions than their convictions concerning the Constitution which protects our religious convictions then you are throwing the fight in favor of these Nazi bastards.
“May both Grahams go to Hades.”
Touch not my anointed.
Frankie, you sure ain’t your fathers son.
Someone please post a picture of a flipflop. This thread needs one. Franklin Graham (As is most of his ilk) is a money grubbin weasel. He answers to dollars not god. Bleah
Really, he is. But he has stepped in it now, as far as Samaritan’s Purse is concerned.
You judge harshly, and unjustly. I know them.
Follow the money, then you will find the “words”.
You cannot question that which does not exist.
