Having made their selection of the “correct’ course of action nothing will change their minds.
I posted several months ago that we needed a Manhattan style approach to the engergy issue. No so much money but the aggressive multi-prong approach exploring multiple tracks to come up the most effective short term solution to the issue. Once the short term solution (probably a very expensive solution) has been achieved the technology can be refined to reduce the costs.
Chu, and by extension Obama and his entire administration, want to develop the technology first then see if it works - see the bio-fuels programs, including algae, that is replacing the all electric program, which replaced .. Well, you get the picture.
Actually I agree with you, about the value of a Manhattan Project style program to build an electric charging infrastructure on the interstate highway grid.
The gas companies have a vested interest in not making alternatives to gas available via their existing gas stations. (duh)
Build the infrastructure with government participation, then sell it off to enterpreneurs. But have one out there. Then people who decide to go electric can remove “not being able to charge my car” from the list of decisioning considerations.
Don’t though get people to alternatives by making gas absurdly and deliberately expensive. That is the most damaging way possible, and is arguably sabotage of America.
Provide alternatives which are more attractive. Not making gas more expensive. Be part of the solution.
Liberals seem to always gravitate toward using government as a stick, despite all their claims of “compassion” and “tolerance”. They never do anything compassionately, they do things to punish.
Make a carrot program, lose the stick.
I use recharging/electric small-scale on the weekends.
