Let’s understand the logic here:

Raise pump prices to $8 per gallon, incredibly burdening the average American.

Then, tell that American he must purchase a new car that runs on another fuel source, even though that American has less disposable income becase the price of gas is consuming it.

Answer: Subsidize the electric and unicorn cars and levy a tax on hydrocarbon-based vehicles.

This one single fact needs to be pounded home this election year.

If the average person understands that this "President" (I use that term loosely) wants $5+ per gallon gas, he will lose this election in the biggest landslide of all time.

Shout it from the rooftops!!!

The Dept.Of Energy has got to go.It has done nothing to provide energy independence for the United States.Instead it has thrown more obstacles in the way forcing us to spend more and making us more dependant on foriegn sources of energy.

It’s time for the voters to “wean” Chu and his DOE buddies off of taxpayer dollars.

By the way, another very effective tactic against the 0 administration will be to point out that our electricity supply and price is being impacted by dozens of power plants closing due to new EPA rules this year.

Personally I'm hoping for some rolling blackouts this summer - that should fire people up quite a bit... ;-)

If Obama/Chu were really interested in weaning America off oil, they wouldn't accelerate the greatest transfer of western wealth to the ME for imports - instead of increasing domestic access to drilling and processing capacity and pilfering profits to fund and develop alternate energy sources.

Rather, as with the majority of this administrations decisions, they bow to foreign interests and instead fund & materially/politically support and encourage the resurrection of the Islamic caliphate through oil propheteering. This article first appeared in the British magazine Encounter in July 1979 and remains as relevent today as ever:

J.B. Kelly: Of Valuable Oil & Worthless Policies

Treason by any other name.

Electric cars are not feasible period. Never will be. There isn’t enough algae on earth to produce enough fuel to power every automobile on earth for two hours...

Chu, like Obama and others of the liberal-socialist-progressive cabal, have already made their decision. Intervening facts be damned. After all, haven't they (Obama and Chu, been rewarded for their superior intellect?

Having made their selection of the “correct’ course of action nothing will change their minds.

I posted several months ago that we needed a Manhattan style approach to the engergy issue. No so much money but the aggressive multi-prong approach exploring multiple tracks to come up the most effective short term solution to the issue. Once the short term solution (probably a very expensive solution) has been achieved the technology can be refined to reduce the costs.

Chu, and by extension Obama and his entire administration, want to develop the technology first then see if it works - see the bio-fuels programs, including algae, that is replacing the all electric program, which replaced .. Well, you get the picture.

“Chu: DOE working to wean U.S. off oil, not lower prices”

Another government idiot who knows absolutely nothing about Oil or the petrochemical industry and it’s impact on our modern way of life.

Another statement “Our addiction to oil” is also an illustration of a know nothing president.

We are carbon based life forms living on a carbon based planet using carbon based energy that is responsible for our modern way of life and has brought that way of life to the most people in world history.

High energy prices: you’ll get used to them.

Now go pay your taxes - your government is broke. :)

The Energy Department isn’t working to lower gasoline prices directly, Secretary Steven Chu said Tuesday after a Republican lawmaker scolded him for his now-infamous 2008 comment that gas prices in the U.S. should be as high as in Europe.

In the meantime while waiting for this pie in the sky outlook to happen those who view oil products as bad can live their example by walking to places they need to go, heat their homes with sunlight, pedal drive to generate electrical, etc. in the meantime and until they start doing these things as a shining example STFU.,

Oil is the most efficient source of energy available at
present. Economic logic requires it’s continued use!

Since the high gas prices are the fault of Bush/Congressional Republicans/Big Oil, when is Chu going to thank them, on behalf of Obama, for advancing the Administration’s alternate fuel agenda?
