Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair; the rest is in the hands of God.

Happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected.
-George Washington
It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.
-George Washington
Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.

Various are the pleas and arguments which men of corrupt minds frequently urge against yielding obedience to the just and holy commands of God.

This is nothing more than a wedge, and regrettably an effective one. This will drive the faithful to Rick’s defense in the Primary, and the ignorant against him in the General.

You are correct—the Left has gone from mocking God—a shortcoming worthy of damnation but with an understanding of liberal ignorance that may deserve some measure of divine mercy—to outright hatred of the Almighty and an agenda in agreement with the Devil to subvert Him and his blessings...not to mention the political fallout of being allied with the hominid entity of Evil itself.
Dante never saw the infernal levels such as these will be confined to for all eternity.

There is a wildcard scenario that would be bodacious, but I doubt Santorum would play along.

He will lose in court..which brings me to another reason I like Newt. Newt will hold the judicial activists accountable and they should be...it is beyond me how Santorum ever voted for Sonia Sotomyer to serve on the 2nd circuit court and she is a full blown leftwinger. Even McCain voted nay on her.

That is such a mean statement because people have a right to think for themselves. Some of the Rick supporters are quickly judging others for a support to Newt. We believe in Newt, not just in stopping Romney to win. We see how no one stood up for Newt; including Rick. Not all of us are drinking the koolaid. Thank you, thank you ..very much... and as the Newt supporters are sharing at Palin’s web site, stand up for Newt when the others won’t; I agree.

Dick Cohen has no problems with Obamas religion informing his politics. Whats more out of the mainstream, Santorums beliefs or those of Obama - Black Liberation Theology? Cohen knows that Obama is not really a Christian. Cohen really doesn't like the idea of an authentic Christian in a position of leadership. (And for those Protestants who are about to say "Catholics are not Christians", please shut up and save it for the religion forum).

This belief that religion has been banished from public discussion is a conservative trope without foundation. New York City is now recovering from a frenzy of celebratory publicity regarding the elevation of Timothy Dolan to cardinal. We have applauded the feats of Tim Tebow, the so-called praying quarterback, who seems unintimidated in publicly expressing his religious convictions.
It sounds like Richard Cohen is tired of whatever hoopla accompanied New York's getting a new cardinal.
And I really doubt he "applauded" Tim Tebow, though I can believe he called him "the so-called praying quarterback."
If religion hasn't been banished from public discussion, it may not be because Richard Cohen wanted to allow it, but because he couldn't help it.
