Theres a chance Rick Santorum may still scrape out a win in Michigan tomorrow. This mornings Public Policy Polling survey has Mitt Romney leading him by just a few points, 39 percent to 37 percent. But the internal numbers look worse for Santorum, and his ongoing slide in the state seems to be due to his focus on social issues:
One place Santorum may have hurt himself in the last week is an overemphasis on social issues. 69 percent of voters say theyre generally more concerned with economic issues this year to only 17 percent who pick social issues. And with the overwhelming majority of voters more concerned about the economy, Romney leads Santorum 45-30. Santorums winning those more concerned about social issues 79-12 but its just not that big a piece of the pie.
Santorums net favorability has also taken a hit:
The last week of the campaign in Michigan has seen significant damage to Santorums image with GOP voters in the state. His net favorability has declined 29 points from +44 (67/23) to now only +15 (54/39). Negative attacks on Romney meanwhile have had no negative effect with his favorability steady at +20 (57/37). Two weeks ago Santorums net favorability in Michigan was 34 points better than Romneys. Now Romneys is 5 points better than Santorums. Those kinds of wild swings are the story of the GOP race.

I concur, but forgot not the indignation is strong, the mediation not so much.
We shall find out tomorrow in Michigan and Arizona.
I believe that every special interest group has a vested interest in expressing their views to the President. If he should act on them, it should be because the policy is sound, and the benefit undeniable. This input would naturally be taken in context with other input.
That doesn’t mean that the government should cross the line. Far from it, the government shouldn’t set up a religion. We saw how that worked in England. It sucked.
That doesn’t mean that the fine morals that accompany religion should be off the menu, because we don’t want the nation endorsing a religion.
I don’t see any problem whatsoever with a president expressing a belief that at least nine of the ten commandments are something everyone should adopt in their lives. On the other hand, he has no business trying to get people to do so with legislation. People would be free to agree or disagree.
They could vote for him, or someone else they thought was better.
Agreed. And the irony concerning Santorum is his sense of fairness, his application of the golden rule.
I often characterize Rick as being in a state of disbelief. This is something I observed for years now. It’s the strangest thing that this very normal guy has become a magnet for the most bizarre accusations of intolerance — he’s anything but intolerant. And we all see his frustration when his views and words are taken out of context. Yes, people are mean, and not unlike defamation heaped upon Sarah, Rick’s being dragged to the Leftist’s woodshed for an unjust, deceitful beatdown of his character.
*smack-smack* mmmm.....BBQ Troll! :)
Senator Santorum agrees.

Indeed...timing is everything with BBQ! :)
I'll take Newt thank you...he does understand and knows how our govenment works. He's got some specific plans I agree with and will turn this ship around. Course that depends too if Obama doesn't pull the entire plug before he's voted out...he can do a lot more damage before he's thru.
BTW How are you doing?
Another one bites the dust! LOL.....
You really are some sort of nutcase.
"Jim Robinson, Founder of Free Republic, Endorses Newt Gingrich"
"Newt is a pro-life Reagan Revolution conservative who led the Republican Revolution of the 90s, taking the majority away from the democrats who had held it for 40 years. And as Speaker, cut the taxes, cut the government, cut the spending, cut the deficit, cut regulations, cut unemployment, brought the federal budget under control for four years running. And unlike Romney, actually blocked a socialist healthcare system from becoming law. And created a pro-growth, pro-free market, pro-jobs environment and extended the Reagan economy throughout the 90s!! Newt is the ideal candidate to lead the Tea Party Revolution!! "
Santorum represents the Harper Valley PTA. Geez, I never thought anyone could make Romnedy look good in comparison.
And I think the 53,000,000 is just the tip of the iceberg when you consider all the babies that have died because of abortifacients.
That's not a REAL WIN ~ it's a FAKE WIN since he has to split the delegates with Santorum.
This is not a good thing for Romney.
I don’t think Newton would might a Romney nomination in the least. He knows he is going no where outside of GA.
“Sell out on social issues!”
Same thing is said every election.
True and unfortunate. But he's still better than Romney.
Romney is Masonic excrement, just like the last three presidents.
