Mark Levin’s No More Gotchas Interview with Newt Gingrich
http://www.therightscoop.com/mark-levins-no-more-gotchas-interview-with-newt-gingrich/ ^ | 2-24-2012 | Mark Levin

This is a similar interview to the one with Rick Santorum, with similar questions but different answers, of course. But given the template that Mark used, it’ll be interesting to compare and contrast.

I will note that as a response to Romney’s comment that he’s “severely conservative”, Newt says that Romney is “severely non-factual”. Nice.

Here’s the full interview:

Mark discusses a variety of subjects with Newt and also Mark advised Newt to download the audio from his show last night and listen to the first hour to understand why Ron Paul and Romney are tag teaming against Newt and Rick Santorum. Newt said he noticed something was odd but was not sure what deal they had made if any. Mark said he did not like what he was seeing and to just download the first hour of his radio show.

It is obvious that Ron (Pot) Paul is staying in the race as a spoiler for Romney. There is no way he is going to be the nominee. He is there to draw enough votes away from the other anti-Romney candidates to guarantee a Willard win.

Yep. Levin suggested Newt and Santorum do the same thing.

If Levin is backing Santorum...then he is just another coward afraid to back a true leader. I understand that David Limbaugh as well is backing Santorum. Rush, I am not sure of, but it does seem odd that he has been giving Santorum so much of his time. Now, even the Tea Party is afraid to stand by their original convictions.

Mr. Newt is the only one left. However, if you tell the ignorant public over and over and over, from every political perch, right, left, and middle, that Mr. Newt is unelectable, they soon begin to believe it, ignoring their own convictions. Is it just the infidelity? Didn’t matter to the other party. They elected Clinton know what he was, then the reelected Clinton after he brought it in the White House, then committed perjury to cover it up. How about the love the American people have for JFK? He too was a serial adulterer, in the White House. At least Newt’s infidelity was a long time ago. He admitted his infidelity to the American people, and asked God for forgiveness. Callista Gingrich now stands by his side with courage knowing that the American people are aware that she was the other woman to marriage number 2. Mr. Newt is now happily married, 16 years older and wiser, and yet even here at FreeRepublic, there are those that cannot look past it, as though it only happens in politics.

Wake up folks, it happens every day. Families are destroyed, lives are turned upside down, and children are forever affected. Mr. Newt will stand in front of God when the time comes and answer for his sins. Are you that are reading this without sin? How many of you men out there chastise Mr. Newt and know you have done the same thing without regard for your wives? I am the product of a cheating husband; I know personally how it feels and the pain that is involved. I forgave him, numerous times. We are still together after 41 years, and he too is much wiser now and very aware of the pain he caused. He will answer to God one day, just as we all will.

FreeRepublic enthusiastically backed Fred Thompson, he lost big time, and was a true disappointment. FreeRepublic backed Sarah (family came first) and America lost out on a true leader. FreeRepublic then shifted to Herman Cain, at which point the establishment and the media destroyed him. Finally, FreeRepublic took notice and decided we could overlook the personal baggage and backed Mr. Newt, and look where that has gotten us. After a while, you begin to question even your own ability to pick the right leader best for our country. My heart and gut tell me that Mr. Newt is the one man who can turn this around, but the powers that be say NO! What do they want…conservative purity? No such thing! Even President Regan was not perfect…look how his amnesty program worked out!

What next? Now even the Tea Party is giving up. Sarah will not make a commitment because I feel she fears that if she comes out for Mr. Newt with a full endorsement, it will hurt him. How much could it hurt now? Could the situation look any worse? I guess it could if Mr. Newt had given up, but he hasn’t yet! Polls and the media continue to drive down his numbers. Time after time, he shows himself to be the best man out there to pull America out of this horrible mess.

I want to believe that Mr. Newt can turn it around, but am I being foolish? I felt quite foolish to be so certain that Sarah would not let us down, but she did and probably for the right reasons. I am now discouraged the same way I was when Sarah announced she would not run. I know it was because of her family and her need to be with Trig, and I give her credit for the courage to put her family first.

What chance do any of our families have if Obama is reelected? Will there even be an America in four years? I am glad that I am as old as I am so I will not have to witness the complete destruction of America and our way of life.

I missed both interviews, but I downloaded the whole show to listen to right now.

Mark’s first hour on Thursday was no holds barred. He went through the whole anarchist background of Ron Paul. He even mentioned Rand’s statement about being honored if Mitt selected him for the Veep spot on the ticket.

Also of note: Mark mentioned an article by “Boston Catholic Insider” about Mitt’s lie concerning Catholic exemptions from Romneycare. I knew Mitt was lying at the debate about this as it was coming out of his mouth. I have to find that article.

He is there to draw enough votes away...

Or worse! He is there to draw delegates. If they are tag-teaming now, they will gang up at convention time... so that delegates paul+rotney > 50+1.

Well said. I think many conservatives here are so desperate to elect a “family values” candidate that they ignore two important facts: this election is about jobs, and the Presidency is not a pastoral position!

the Presidency is not a pastoral position!

That's true, and there's also a big risk in running as Mr. Purity, especially if that's all you have to offer.

The media is, of course, pushing Romney and to a lesser extent, Santorum, because they know that neither one of them has a chance against Obama. Santorum will self-destruct because he is running as St Rick, and not only will this have no traction outside of a handful of social conservatives, it sets him up for a big fall when his failure to live up to this image is revealed. I think the thing that will be devastating is when the press brings out that incident where he lied about his address to get a school district where he did not live to pay for the on-line home-schooling program for his kids...and then let the State of Pennsylvania pay the $50,000 fine he was assessed when he was caught. He's going to look like a self-righteous hypocrite, and if all he is running on is his purity, I think this could be pretty destructive.

There is only one of the current candidates who has any ideas and any possibility of standing up to Obama, and that's Gingrich. That's why the press and the Dems are very eager for us to get either a big-government Mormon who thinks he's the fulfillment to a Mormon prophecy and who at the same time braggingly let himself get photographed with a band of Gordon Gecko type cronies, all of them with money sticking out of their clothing or their mouths - or a self-righteous, weak, idea-free, big-government former Senator whose only selling point is that he has been married to the same woman for a number of years and home-schools his children. Although even that is not going to be much of a selling point once it is examined more closely...

This is all very depressing and I'm pretty sure we're in for four more years of Obama. I'm not giving up yet, of course, because the stakes are too high. Obama will completely destroy us if we have four more years of him.

Good points all.

I wish that everybody took this election as seriously as we do. Sometimes I feel as if we’re the only people in America who are awake and aware; everybody else, including GOP leaders, is just resigned to letting our country be fundamentally changed and they think it’s never going to affect them personally so they really don’t care.

But it affects all of us personally, and by the time most people realize this, it will be too late to change it.

Newt is who you lean to if you use your head to decide. Santorum is who you lean to if you use your heart to decide. Like Glenn Beck, too many are using their hearts and ignoring their heads.

Do you have a point, or do you just think that pasting enough quotes will magically make Rick Santorum a better candidate?

Yes, best be somewhat skeptical of anyone who claims, or whose supporters claim, that ONLY THEY have a direct pipeline to God.

George Washington was the greatest, but he wasn’t endorsing Santorum.

Paul can never win the GOP nomination.

He’s getting old.

His son Rand is an ambitious up and comer.

Talk is that Paul wants to use his delegate power at the convention to get Rand on the ticket.
