"Scruff Face"?
Them's fighting words to Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Minnesota's controversial former governor and TV provocateur.
Ventura, whose real name is James Janos, recently filed a defamation lawsuit against Navy SEAL Chris Kyle over the portrayal of a bar fight Kyle claims they had six years ago in Coronado, Calif. Kyle wrote about the alleged incident in his recent memoir "American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History."
Under the headline, "Punching Out Scruff Face," Kyle describes a confrontation with a "celebrity" who served in the military during the Vietnam War and who "most people seem to believe was a SEAL." He said Scruff Face winters in Baja California, opposed the war in Iraq and described the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks as a "conspiracy."
Though he didn't name Ventura, Kyle has since acknowledged that Scruff Face is Ventura.
In his lawsuit filed in Hennepin County District Court, Ventura denies any such fight took place and alleges that Kyle defamed him in an effort to promote his book. He's seeking unspecified monetary damages, including any profits from the book's sales.

OK, so “Ventura” is a joke...
but didn’t the majority of voters in a mid-western state vote him in as governor???
Then they voted in a “comedian” as senator???
Maybe the folks in MN need some SEALs to show them REAL leaders....
Minneysoter is actually a Canadian Province.
Promptly leaving the scene was a prudent thing to do, but I doubt he ran out.
Guarantee you no one in that Coronado, CA bar frequented by SEALS, had any idea of who the assailant was, or was even able to give the police a physical description. That would include the bartender. Given the calm demeanor of the SEALS that were present when police arrived, I doubt the police even asked.
Venturas reputation is well known by most in those parts, especially after he tried to pass himself off as a SEAL.
Baja.
Minnesota is western Ontario.
It was one of those 3 way splits, he got in with 37% of the vote.
Got that right!
I find it tough to have a lot of respect for somebody who allows that title on his book. I guess he took a lot of shots at ducks on a pond and piled up "confirmed kills". Good for him. He's no Marine Corps sniper, though. He is definitely no Carlos Hathcock. About 90% of being a real sniper is "stalking". Maybe he should see if he can make it through USMC Scout Sniper Basic School before he writes another book.
Try reading the book before you comment. He has good things to say about Marine Snipers as well as the value of stalking.
One of my friends is a Navy SEAL Captain
he verifies the SEAL version, Ventura got laid out :)
I hear it’s a good book. My problem is with the title.
I don’t have to read the book to read the title.
>> My problem is with the title.
That might be the publisher’s choice.
I thought of that, but the author can always step up. Anyway, even after all these years I still get bothered by that fraud Jack Coughlin, author of 'SHOOTER: The Autobiography of the Top Ranked Marine Sniper'. The guy was apparently a Marine combat veteran, but he was never a sniper. I'm leary of guys who tell war stories, and learier of guys who tell war stories for profit in books with titles that proclaim they are "top ranked" or "most lethal in history".
>> I thought of that, but the author can always step up
You’re right, and that was a secondary thought in my mind.
I hear ya’ regarding story tellers. There’s another book out that talks about SEAL 6. A few flags went up as I listened to the author being interviewed.
G’night!
Looks like Jesse is right - there was no fight, it was a bitch-slap-down.....
it seems Jesse was yelling out fighting words and landed on his face...no fight, just face prints in the floor..
