The fact that Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is a good family man is why he has gained traction recently with voters, according to radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.
My guess [why Santorums popularity is rising] might have to do with the fact that its now widely known that Santorum is a loving, devoted father, Rush argued.
A recent Washington Post/ABC News story stated that Santorum is winning more support from Republican women and is less unpopular among Democrat and independent women than his GOP rivals Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich despite his views on abortion, contraception, and prenatal screenings as being perceived by the mainstream media as extreme.
Santorum does not have an extreme view on contraception, Limbaugh argued. Hes not said a thing about it other than he wouldnt come up with a government program to deal with whatever his view is.

Really? I didn’t know that. Rush specifically said that he’s not supporting Romney?
Well, you may not be buying. Most freepers may not be buying, but the public is certainly buying. Santorum is leading all the polls with Newt behind even the crazy little cretin.
I don’t like it, I like Newt and he’s right on with all his statements, but he’s not catching fire with the public.
And Rush did bring up the weird little coziness between Ron Paul and Mitt.
I don’t see a prediction anywhere in Post 12.
Or “take one for the team”.
You’ve been a busy beaver!
Actually, Americans were TOLD to like Mitt Romney. He was annointed as "inevitable" and "electable" before the first vote was even cast. Why did the "lemmings" not fall in line for Mittie?
Santorum’s numbers are dropping because the public and, sadly, a bunch of people here are believing the liberal attacks on him.
Santorum has never suggested by word or deed that he would interfere with people’s rights regarding religion, birth control or anything except abortion.
Santorum has not helped himself when he tries to explain his position.
We are fools if we fall for this. The two people benefiting are Mitt Romney and Obama.
I speak as a dispassionate observer who really likes Newt but is not going to go into total denial.
I really hope Newts conservative message, along with his strong command of history will earn him strong support across the country. I know he's on the same page as Palin when it comes to our energy independence!
Go Newt!
Yes, sir. Thanks goodness for my contraceptives. :-)
Just kidding!
Rush has proclaimed from the first that he’s not endorsing anyone, but if you listen to his shows, it’s pretty obvious that he does not like Romney at all.
Here is my two cents worth, for whatever it is worth!!! Simple, “ABO” = Anybody But Obama. Santorum, Gingrich, and....yes even Romney will do for me!!! Obama must be defeated and the Democrat Party totally destroyed, politically!!! And.......IMHO, you voter folks, Freepers included, better be thinking the same way!!! America cannot allow anti-American Barack Hussein, The Muslim Brotherhood Lover, Obama to be re-elected.
You’re right. Wasn’t he up there 12 years? It’s kind of like Rick Perry. He was governor of Texas for 11 years and a few people picked maybe 3 things he did in that time they didn’t like and viciously attacked him for them, totally ignoring all the great things he did.
Santorum was tag-teamed by the little creep and Romney on his votes in the senate. I hate to think of the votes Romney would have made if he’d been in the senate.
Guess that’s why governors make the best candidates—no vote baggage.
Then why did Santorum loudly oppose the bank bailouts Bush was pushing for?
Well, I’m no expert on cochlear implants and I’m sure it’s not like normal hearing, but I dispute your theory based on the fact that Rush is still able to do great imitations and not just of people from back when he could hear but of current people like Obama and Ron Paul.
Rick Santorum had an 88% conservative rating from the ACU while serving in Congress. If you can locate any "pro-life Democrat" with a rating that high, feel free to let me know. Even the best ones rarely score 30%.
As usual you have attracted the usual Occupy Santorum Thread types.
Yes, and when he was in office he rated in the top 5 Senators for a fiscally conservative record for lower taxes and less spending. He continued those beliefs while out of office. What's your point, do you believe it doesn't matter what position someone takes as long as they're not holding office?
