Scrutiny for gun permits gets tighter
Monterey County Herald ^ | 2-24-2012 | Julia Reynolds

When then-candidate for sheriff Scott Miller announced he would ease the application process for firearms carrying permits in Monterey County, Second Amendment advocates were thrilled.

"If you just say you want to carry a gun for personal protection, we consider that good cause," Miller said of a dramatic change in the office's long-standing requirement that applicants provide detailed justifications of why they're at risk and should be allowed to carry concealed guns in public.

When Miller took office in 2011, websites frequented by gun owners buzzed with hopeful chatter that Monterey County had finally loosened up.

But they soon grew disillusioned.

In the same edition there is an article about the sheriff's son being sentenced to jail time and probation for possession of meth for sale. Maybe the sheriff should be more concerned about the psychological health of himself and his own family than the taxpayers of the county.

This is the inevitable result when Idiot Commissars are given discretionary powers over us proles.

The history of Marxism proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that when the government is empowered to stick their noses in, they WILL stick their noses in.

The reason, he said, is "to ensure we don't put people out there in the community with a firearm that shouldn't have it. It's a huge responsibility."

This Sheriff is a Constitutional Criminal who should be imprisoned for abridgement of basic Constitutional freedoms.

Since this is in California, I’m guessing the illegals don’t care, liberals don’t care and the rest of the sheeple meekly accept his tyrannic rule. He, like others I won’t mention here, should be forcibly ousted from office.

A policy this egregious should be ignored and ultimately challenged

We're meekly awaiting decisons in about half a dozen cases which will be decided in light of Heller and McDonald.

While it is being challenged, it is quite risky to ignore. These anti-gunners have no qualms about imprisoning people for keeping and bearing arms. It's a felony in this state to put a pistol grip on a center-fire semi-automatic rifle.

The reason, he said, is “to ensure we don’t put people out there in the community with a firearm that shouldn’t have it. It’s a huge responsibility.” Which is why We should pass the following LAW::
Any Public Servant or Public Employee that willfully makes Any Deliberate False Statements during the course of their professional duties or actions, Shall Be considered a DANGER to the Community and Shall Be Prohibited from Using, Owning, or Posessing ANY FIREARM in Perpetuity.
