I would hope that Newt and Santorum supporters would speak out about their favorites, but that in each state, once it became obvious that their top choice would not win, they would vote for the most popular non-Romney candidate. I would like to see Romney carry as few primaries as possible. Considering the danger we now face, it’s worth settling for second (or third) best in a primary to avoid either Romney or Obama winning in November.

Romney MUST be electorally stopped in Arizona and Michigan. End of case.

The necessarily transcends into a vote for Santorum to stop him.

While I like the idea that Romney will be more assured to be beaten this way, it’s also a way of stealing Santorum’s thunder if he should win.

Santorum was looking like he was pulling Michigan out, and now it will look like he only won because Newt asked his folks to vote for him.

One wonders how much this was to beat Romney, and how much it was just to steal Santorum’s thunder.

If not one Gingrich supporter votes for Santorum, it will still be said that the only reason he won was because of Newt.

Newt supporters,

Thanks for helping beat Willard in his own home state.

I think that’s the rational way to go, and I’m a Gingrich supporter who thinks he can amass the delegates to win the nomination. But Newt has given up campaigning in Michigan, and is trending under the 15% threshold required to get any delegates in that state. So it’s better vote Santorum in MI in order to cripple Romney in his home state.

The result may turn out to be a 2-man race between Newt & Santorum. I respect both men, and would find such a campaign more edifying then having to continue to deal with this dishonest lying d-bag Mitt.

I’m confidant in the intelligence of Newt’s supporter’s that they will proceed in a manner advantageous to Newt.

It’s unfortunate, however, that there are some on this thread who have done nothing but criticize Newt and his supporters- now laying the predicate for a unified conservative strategy.

No doubt, discerning Newt supporters will caste their vote in the manner that most helps Newt secure the nomination.

I have a better idea for defeating Romney - why doesn’t Santorum just drop out? What’s the point in two conservatives splitting the vote and helping Romney?

It's just my opinion but as I've said before...

Gingrich nominated = Obama reelected

Sorry...

I’m a Newt Supporter and will vote for Newt here in Ga no matter what, but I can go along with this scenario... Santorum is my choice #2 and Mittens must be stopped at all costs.

I would rather see Santorum embarrassed in Michigan than see him win. Helping Santorum win does not help Newt. We only have room for one candidate and I don’t want Romney or Santorum. All these guys are labeled conservative by the media so we damn well better elect the one who is conservative.

Hasn’t Newt dropped out of Michigan? I thought I heard that on Rush’s show today.

For the records, I will vote for whichever of the two, Newt or Santorum, has a better chance of defeating Romney in my state.

Eye on the prize. Knocking out Romney is the most important thing we can do right now. A loss in Michigan and Arizona will go a long way toward accomplishing exactly that.

Once that's done, a battle between Newt and Rick is a win-win for our side.
