~Favorite Car Songs~
*"I Can't Drive 55" -Sammy Hagar*
One foot on the brake and one on the gas, hey! Well, there's too much traffic, I can't pass, no! So I tried my best illegal move A big black and white come and crushed my groove again!
CHORUS: Go on & write me up for 125 Post my face, wanted dead or alive Take my license n' all that jive I can't drive 55! Oh No! Uh!
So I signed my name on number 24, hey! Yeah the judge said, "Boy, just one more I'm gonna throw your ass in the city joint" Looked me in the eye, said, "You get my point?" I said "Yeah!, Oh yea!"
CHORUS II: Write me up for 125 Post my face, wanted dead or alive Take my license, all that jive I can't drive 55! Oh, yea!
I can't drive 55! (four times) Uh! (Solo)
When I drive that slow, you know it's hard to steer. And I can't get my car out of second gear. What used to take two hours now takes all day. Huh - It took me 16 hours to get to L.A.!
CHORUS: Go on & write me up for 125 Post my face, wanted dead or alive Take my license n' all that jive I can't drive 55!
No, no, no, I can't drive...(I can't drive 55!) I can't drive... (I can't drive 55!) I can't drive 55!
"She Runs Hot" by Little Village
Sittin' on the line Tryin' to change her mind Red light, yellow light, green light time. You're standing on it buddy But she's chilly as a Tastee Freeze Ease it over, son I'll show you how she runs Screamin' like a demon When the quarter mile comes Crankcase cookin', that's her manifold destiny Now she might run cold for you She runs hot for me. She runs hot for me She runs hot for me She runs hot for me Now she might run cold for you She runs hot for me She's got a fire in her veins That's high octane When her heart starts pumpin' Her cylinders are jumpin' Then I give it to her slow And she gives me back the low ET's Burnin' down the line Ten seconds time Half an hour later I can still accelerate her 'till we're out of Hardin County And in another Galaxy--- Now she might run cold for you She runs hot for me She runs hot for me She runs hot for me She runs hot for me Now she might run cold for you She runs hot for me

Whats growing now? Not much here. Some south side road ditch grass and the wheat fields are flirting with dormancy. Mostly equipment is being prepped for spring work. A few are doing early tillage and there are a lot of irrigation wells being serviced. Even new and replacement sprinklers being installed. All chilly work what with the wind blowing across the melting remnants of the last few snows lingering in the shadowed spots.
I've been working steady mostly 70 hour weeks forever it seems. We just bumped another 30% onto a contract so will be at least another 5+ weeks. Probably more because of doing some local stuff a few days here and there. Those are a welcome break from the 740 or so mile round trips into Texas and New Mexico. As good as it is for us I pray for drought breaking rains for our southern neighbors.
I should clarify my choice of music. It is not really a car song but many years ago I was a steel hauler in the oil patch and the 'large car' I drove was a big ole red W900 KW. Had all the rigging on the back, jin poles, two winches chains boomers...but what made it stand out was the custom made bug deflector on the front end. In stylish script of contrasting color were the words 'The Breeze'. The old truck made it seem easy, the largest load I remember with it was approx. 25 feet wide, 17 feet high and 180 feet long weighing ? 250 thousand pounds. Yes it had rear steering.
(((Hugs))) to you Kathy. I hope your spring returns to normal and all else is as God intends.

WOW, that’s a big haul!
Supposed to have a bit of snow the next 3 days. We passed a new records weeks ago. Running out of places to put snow from the driveway.

I heard him on a talk radio car show with Jeff Brooks years ago telling the story of the song. This was in the late 90’s. Said he still had the car

Awaiting the next.
Have a nice, if rainy, weekend.

“Panama” is about a car that Roth saw race in Las Vegas; its name was “Panama Express”.

Just a “hi” to you because I’m never here!
I’m a day late kathy but I’ve always liked American Pie. Probably many others did too. I don’t like many ‘car’ songs, they seem more ‘made for the guys’.

There was that song about “the little Nash rambler” that was fun. Hot Rod Lincoln is the grandaddy, though.

And also
Texas in My Rear View Mirror by Mac Davis.
BTW, I thought "Summer in the City" was a convertible-riding song, but when I looked up the lyrics, it said "Hot town", not "Top down". LOL!!
