As Republican presidential candidates toss barbs at Barack Obama over expensive gasoline, the U.S. president and his team are going on the offensive with a strategy to divert blame and prepare voters for higher costs. In subtle and not so subtle ways, Obama, a Democrat, is raising the issue of high prices to promote his own policy priorities and blunt criticism from the men vying to unseat him in the November 6 election. His strategy is both politically- and policy-oriented. The president wants to advance his plans to increase renewable energy sources and reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil.

Obama as a presidential candidate said:
“Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. ... Coal-powered plants, you know, natural gas, you name it, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money.”
Never understood why Bush didn’t do more of this when he was in office.
“We need to drill here, and drill now. We have the resources to create $1/gal gas. Democrats in congress need to put America first, not the environmental lobbyists.”
Short of that he could have issued an executive order in the name of national security to bypass EPA regulations prohibiting consruction of new refineries, etc...
If inflation kicks in too soon, it’s gonna kill him. I think it is starting with fuel prices and the market numbers.
Yahoo News goes on offense for Obama over high gasoline prices
“Arab Spring? What’ve Arabs got to do with gas prices?”
The folks commenting on Yahoo are enraged!
Good, so am I!
This guy promised “skyrocketing prices” he said they were necessarily part of his plan. He said “electric rates” but I think he met all energy.
I think W allowed his policies to be more effected by media spin than he let on.

That would need updating around these parts.....the graphic is 30 cents cheaper than what we’re faced with.
It sucks that food and fuel prices aren’t factored into the government-produced inflation numbers.
Cue up Janis Joplin on the turn table...
This guy is a joke he had all the answers before he was president and did nothing but talk down the country.
Hey Mr. President future fuel alternatives won't get me to work or feed my children in the next 5 years what's your plan already. Close down off shore drilling, refuse pipelines into our country, refuse fuel exploration drilling, stop the building of refineries and shut down coal plants?
We didn’t capitulate to the Germans; we didn’t capitulate to the Japanese; and we shouldn’t capitulate to the Democrats, RINO’s, and eco-fascists. Build the Keystone pipeline, drill off the coast and in ANWR, build refineries, build nuclear plants. We are Americans; we have the skills and technology. Just do it.
Carol King had a big hit in the early 70’s called IT’S TOO LATE! Bye Bye Bari...
Thanks.

It’s actually worse.
Watch this. I laughed. I cried. I mostly cried.
