Never understood why Bush didn’t do more of this when he was in office.

“We need to drill here, and drill now. We have the resources to create $1/gal gas. Democrats in congress need to put America first, not the environmental lobbyists.”

Short of that he could have issued an executive order in the name of national security to bypass EPA regulations prohibiting consruction of new refineries, etc...

You were not following what GWB was doing?

Dems repeatedly filibustered energy bills in the RINO Senate so in 2007 when gas prices were rising and voters mad GWB made a deal with the devil, he signed onto a energy bill with the NEW Reid/Pelosi congress.

To get some drilling he went along with ethanol mandates and subsidies and banned incandescent light bulbs, the last going into effect 2012 and 2013. It was a monstrocity.

Remember that when you see Republican candidates make all sorts of bold promises. What crap will they sign onto to get SOMETHING to tell voters they accomplished SOMETHING?

Actually Bush (and even clinton) did increase leases and open up more areas to drilling. It really does take time for the oil to come online which is one BIG reason along with the shale fields that the US production is up (two things that obama couldn’t stop but he is now taking credit for).

If you recall, Bush had his hands quite full battling the entire MSM/DNC axis every day on the issue of keeping our troops alive during a very dicey WOT.

Many people forget how it was...prosecuting the war was not a shoo-in.

To think that Bush could have successfully taken on the entire Green Lobby at the same time may seem nice with 20-20 but the reality is that the war effort would have suffered.
