Operation Chaos in Michigan? Again?
The Michigan Democratic Party sent an e-mail to supporters Wednesday encouraging them to take part in the states Republican presidential primary on Tuesday.
The e-mail points to a YouTube video of two Republican state senators encouraging Democrats to vote and notes that voters can still return to voting in the Democratic caucuses two months from now.
Any Democrat who takes Senators Jones and Meekhof up on their offer will still be able to participate in the Michigan Democratic Partys presidential caucuses on May 5, 2012, Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer said in the brief missive. If Democratic crossover votes affect the results of the GOP presidential primary next Tuesday, the Republicans will only have themselves to blame.
There has been some discussion that Democrats might cross over and vote for Rick Santorum over Mitt Romney in an effort either to prolong the Republican nominating contest or to nominate the supposedly less-electable Santorum.
Democrats and the White House have attempted to undercut Romney....

I’ve been saying we’re being infiltrated right along. I think Obama wants Santorum....
Be careful what they wish for.
No kidding, this is how we got Rick Snyder who is a liberal republican but the unions hate him.
One good thing is the fact that it shows the republicans that the changes they made in voting aren’t nearly enough.
I think Brewer is trying to say that if GOP turnout is strong, the relatively few number of Rat crossover votes would will not make any difference to the outcome. IMO it wont be a problem. There is little energy in the Michigan Democrat Party these days. I see the GOTCV going nowhere. But I’ve been known to be wrong.
That should just be “will not make any difference”.
I think Ron Paul would be the one to benefit most from crossover voters.
As far as our primary is concerned, It isn’t enough but I think a lot of democrats will be pretty skittish about signing their name to take a republican ballot.
This is the BIG problem with open primaries.
And it goes both ways. I crossed over once and voted in a primary for Jeff Feiger to be the Democrat candidate for Governor to run against the incumbent Governor Engler. He was nominated and as expected the Governor had an easy time with the loon. Pretty funny then, not so funny now.
The bigger problem are state run primary elections themselves. State run primaries are government subsidies to the political parties. The Republicans should opt out of them, take the process internal, and limit participation to people who give money.
I would love to have a nationwide “reality show” system where every 2 weeks over the spring we “vote someone off the island” with the price to vote: a real money donation. This would stop these shenanigans and assure party members get to choose the candidate.
Yes, Obama wants Santorum. The CPAC for the WH is running ads in MIchigan against Romney. Just as they did in Florida. While conservatives want anyone but Romney, the WH also wants anyone but Romney.
State GOP party officials who defend open primaries must be removed! This should be a Tea Party priority!
The only Republican officials who support this are the RINOs who need liberal and moderate votes for their candidate.
MI does not have an open primary, rules were changed. Some may not know this - in fact there are recent articles pointing out that when rats showed up to get their absentee ballots and had to request GOP ballots many just passed them up. These would be the troublemakers.
You must be registered with the SOS 30 days out.
Then you must request a ‘partisan’ GOP ballot which becomes a public record.
You must then show picture ID to vote.
IOW there really is no such thing as an absolute ‘closed primary’ as this is still America and you can still vote for the candidate of choice - am not worried about mischief so much like in other years.
Said another way if 2010 was any indication the rats voted GOP in droves as they had deep discontent with Granholm, Obama, Dingy, Pelosi, Stupak, etc. so the bulk of crossover voting will likely be sincere!
I think Obama wants Romney. They have been planning for Romney for well over a year.
Bump for later.
Agreed, Romney is too similar to Obama and that means he can’t go after Obama without attacking his own record.
Santorum draws a very clear distinction between himself and Bammy. He’s an honest man and people sense it. Sadly, that honesty hurts him most with the GOP opposition who lie in wait for something to attack.
Please freepmail me if you wish to be added or dropped from the mitten ping.

I welcome their help in ousting Mitt.
Haha, as a registered democrat myself I have no problem voting for Santorum or Newt....
;-)
