OKLAHOMA CITY A special guest speaker adressed today's joint session of Oklahoma Legislature. Newt Gingrich only spoke to lawmakers for just over 10 minutes, but his message was focused. He said, "I want to talk about three examples of the change we need."
At the top of the list, he touted a movement started by Gingrich and managed by Texas Givernor Rick Perry to strengthen the 10th amendment and return power and tax money to the states.
It's something Ronald Reagan tried to do 30 years ago and failed. Gingrich says times have changed. "And there's a lot deeper feeling in the country that Washington's doing too much, meddling too much, interfering too much, spending too much and micro-managing too much. So I think there's a much better chance today" (of passing laws to revert billions in federal tax dollars to the states).
Gingrich also wants to turn the Environmental Protection Agency into the Environmental Solutions Agency and open more lands to oil exploration. He says, "We want to be so independent in energy production that no future President ever again bows to a Saudi king."
Hear Newt Gingrich's address to the Oklahoma Legislature here.
Gingrich on a tear.
He also talks about Paul Ryan’s plan to block-grant Medicaid back to the states.
A lot of block-granting back to the states.
I like Newt’s vision of America. I can’t see why Rush and some others do not support him as I think they should. GO NEWT GO!
Was that misspelling a Freudian slip?
Funny.
Newt also discussed the cost of gas.
He was very warmly received.
Being part of the solution, not part of the problem. He’s got proposals on the table to take us forward, not backwards. THat’s the difference.
I can't see why some Freepers can't see why Rush can't support one candidate over another in these Primaries. His viewers come from ALL camps. If he supports one over another during the primaries he will lose viewer ship. His business IS HIS RADIO PROGRAM if he were to alienate some of his viewer his business would suffer.
Now when a Candidate is finally picked from the pack he will support that person full bore, to beat Obama.
And the proportional winning of delegates is going to keep Newt in the primary, getting out his message.
After March 6 - Super Tuesday, ONE THIRD of the delegates will still be on the table.
Mitt has some now. Rick has some now. Newt has some now. Paul has some now. It’s all up in the air.
Number needed to take the nomination - 1144.
Very shrewd on Speaker Gingrich’s part. Getting OK legislators behind him would give him a good base to work for his nomination.
Strenghtening the 10th Amendement and granting the states more power and returning more money to them should help eliminate the “need” for earmarks. Earmarks help perpetuate the incumbents. Do away with earmarks and we may find we don’t need term limits.
Good common sense thinking!
It would be nice if more elected officials would endorse but they seem to be holding back.
Perhaps they’ve been told by the GOP-E, “If you don’t have something nice to say about Mitt, don’t say anything.”
“A lot of block-granting back to the states.”
How about instead of granting it back to the states, the (federal)government doesn’t take it at all.
That’s the goal.
On Drudge...
CASINO BOSS MAY GIVE $100 MILLION TO NEWT, OTHER...
Let’s hope this is a prelude to tomorrow’s debate. Newt seems to be on a roll again. Go Newt!!!!
