The director of the National Security Agency warned that the hacking group Anonymous could have the ability within the next year or two to bring about a limited power outage in the US through a cyber attack.
Gen. Keith Alexander, the agency's director, provided his assessment in meetings at the White House and in other private sessions, according to people familiar with the gatherings.

What is needed is a defense and essential net in the US..that has a air gap between it and internet. There is no way that any civilian computer should be able to access the net that powers our country.
I watched Die Hard 4 last night.
once you have 100 million “smart meters” all relying on Windows and Norton Antivirus...
Well since these people are dubbed “heroes” and no one is even trying to stop them.....
track ‘em to their IP address, if the fingerprints on the keyboard are theirs.. summary execution seems reasonable as public safety is involved... or use a hemp rope and stay on the green side of the aisle.
Has anybody wondered why the left can engage in acts of domestic terrorism and nobody cares?
The Occupiers shut down the port in Oakland, which is an act of terrorism under the law, and Obama and Holder did nothing.
I don’t understand why conservatives are always concerned about what is happening a million miles away and will chase Muslims living in caves across the world when we have enemies on our own soil who want to destroy our country.
Only the dumb ones operate from their own equipment.
Anything on WHY they want to do this? Or is it just the pursuit of general anarchy, and for no real goal?
I wish these people would do something useful. Like bring down the IRS.
Makes me wonder if those are Gov’t paid operatives designed to be the fall guy operation for a false flag event.
I wonder if all the hipsters who saw V for Vendetta and wear the mask have any inkling who Guy Fawkes was and what he represented? Probably not. Also the mantra repeated over and over in the flick, “People shouldn’t fear the govt. Govt should fear the people.”, was used first by the anonymous author of the racist/militia tome, The Turner Diaries.
Awww....they’re sooooooooooooo gosh-darned CUTE in their Guy Fawkes Vendetta masks, ain’t they??
And so brave...,sigh...I wanna be just like them when I grow up...
We’ve seen how easily an air-gap can be compromised with a flash drive.
If it were only that easy....
That would be less secure than what we have today. Essential systems are separated from the internet. Connecting them to each other would reduce security.
I thought that, due to the Klan, several states banned masked gatherings??
I’m sure they aren’t as anonymous as they think, how hard is it to follow someone to their home or hotel when you’re trained to do it?
With technology advances this kind of thing is inevitable;
so the poster who said that critical power grids must be made inaccessible to the general public is correct.
Whether it is Anonymous or just a bunch of high school kids performing a prank,
the loophole must be closed.
They used your IP address. Sorry about that, Norm.
Oh vell.. the sentiment came thru anyway. ;-)
