A 20-year-old woman has been left brain dead - after she was Tasered by police and smacked her head on the ground. Danielle Maudsley had been taken to a Florida Highway Patrol Station after being arrested for a suspected hit-and-run in September. Handcuffed, she ran out of the door.
But as footage from a police cruiser dashboard camera reveals, Trooper Daniel Cole, who this week was cleared of any wrongdoing, fired a Taser's electric probes into her back.
She spun, fell backwards and hit her head on the ground. Bleeding and crying she tried to get up. She then blacked out and has remained unconscious ever since.

Neither do I.
This fat creep has no business being a police officer.
I'd go further, he should be fired and prosecuted, and the commonplace use of tasers by police should be strictly curtailed.
I could be wrong, but I think shooting suspects in the back leads to a murder charges.
This girl was 5 feet in front of this cop. He’s 100 lbs overweight so I guess he figured, “why get sweaty with a run”? He was catching up to her. Just seems to me that this wasn’t so much “Excessive” as it was “lazy”.
She put handcuffs on herself, stunned herself senseless then bashed her own brains in.
Pills would have been easier.
This guy literally only had to take a step or two!! you can see him slowing down to tazer her and never even tried to run... This is dispicable, and the review board that said it was okay is corrupt and just as liable.
I truly hope this guy, and the district he works for are ruined economically in the courts!
Tazers are not intended to be a replacement for doing your damned job! This suspect was no physical threat to him therefore did not need tazed to be subdued like a large raging person on drugs might be, and was certainly not a situation where deadly force may have been justified and a non lethal option attempted. This was clearly an abuse of power, and manslaughter.
OTH, Cops using tasers have been responsible for many deaths and injuries considering that the taser is supposed to be a non deadly response tool.
Many more hit and run perps have killed innocent people while fleeing the scene of their first crime than will ever die from a taze. It’s standard practice now to flee from any little circumstance and endanger the population at large. High speed chases should be punishable by long sentences or even death
The cop engaged in Manslaughter pure and simple, he was too lazy to cover what was less than 3 feet between him and handcuff suspect attempting to run. His arm was literally less than 3 feet from her when he fired the tazer. This guy committed manslaughter pure and simple.
He’ll get away with it because the review board is covering his ass, but make no mistake this guy committed manslaughter and I hope that him and the district he works for are fiscally ruined in the courts!
Just because you are a cop does not give you a pass.
Oh, that's different...nevermind.
This is the problem I have with ‘non lethal’ weapons.
Did this woman do anything that would have warranted deadly force? Or even pulling a pistol out of a holster?
As far as I can tell - no.
So why use a taser on her? I understand she was running...but that doesn’t threaten the officer’s safety. Sure, she might have gotten away (although I doubt it). But, would the officer have pulled out his pistol and shot her, to prevent escape? No way.
These tasers in particular are mis-used. They should not be used to ‘catch’ people...or prod them out of cars...or force people to ‘comply’. They are a weapon...and the police should only use weapons on we the people, if we physically threaten them.
They pop up every time the cops run amok.
I will assume you are kidding, or are coffee'd up and not thinking rationally. If I am wrong you are just despicable - and would be his dream partner.
She was on foot.
Seriously? This girl needed tazed?
She should have either been beat to a pulp or shot. Tazing was his least lethal option, but it worked out ok for the public at large
If you watched this video, and suppor this cop, then frankly you live in a sick sad world. This guy committed manslaughter because he was either to fat, or too lazy or both to do his job.
Since you stick by him you can help pay the $$ that he and others will be paying out for his completely flippant and dangerous actions.
You must want a police. Think about what you’re advocating. You are advocating for judge dredd. Ian that really them world you want your kids living in?
This is not a "cop". He is a thug, drunk with the absolute power of the state. My college buddy had his guns and gasoline stolen at gunpoint in New Orleans after Katrina by 3 "cops" like this one, when he was trying to defend his home from rioting thugs. He was not alone. Why? Because they could. Because they do not uphold the law, they think they ARE the law. And there are more of them in our police state every day.
This was a freak accident. I would remind you that tasers save lives and protect the innocent, but what do you care? To you and Hamilton Jay - all LEO’s are fat donut munchers who’s only purpose in life is to taze people and shoot dogs.
Like I said.... you have no idea what goes on in real life.
