DENVER (AP) -- House lawmakers approved a bill to forbid the state from seizing Colorado residents' firearms during a declared state of emergency.
Republican House Leader Amy Stephens says the bill is about emergency preparedness. The proposal passed the Republican-led House Monday with bipartisan support but it's likely to be defeated in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Democrats cannot support this legislation. BHO2 is a communist and wants to seize weapons during a national emergency.
No Democrat is stupid, or brave enough, to challenge the corrupt BHO2.
Wonder whether this will see the light of day in the Colorado Senate.
It would be nice to have the Dem’s on record as opposing this legislation.
This seems to be a recurring theme.Though the laws are already pretty lenient, Georgia is considering a similar provision.
Could it be that we're getting ready to Take Back Our Country?!?!!!

Them trying to take our firearms across the board would itself be cause for a state of emergency. A Constitutional emergency that would be addressed...
If the bill is passed into law it would forbid the state but not the Feds.
Exactly what kind of emergency could Colorado suffer that would necessitate the taking of firearms??
From the time it’s implemented I wonder how long all the guns in the US would go underground as in buried.
There are several important considerations here.
1) By what means would local authorities *know* someone had a gun? Importantly, when gun stores keep gun purchase background check information, it can become de facto registration, if it is easily checked by the police. This is already being done routinely in many places.
2) If there is a declared state of emergency, and guns are seized anyway, is there a statutory penalty for having done so? That is, local police put in jail for unlawfully confiscating weapons?
3) Federal activities have already been mentioned. However, there are over 100 federal police agencies, and non-police agencies (like the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, USDA, Commerce, Labor, State Department, Transportation, Veterans Affairs, Interior, BLM and the National Park Service, and the EPA), have been given police powers and weapons.
