(Reuters) - Mitt Romney is struggling to regain control of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, but his allies appear ready to offer him a strong crutch for the road ahead. Restore Our Future, the independent "Super PAC" that supports Romney, spent $13.5 million in January on ads attacking his rivals and still emerged with $16.3 million in the bank, according to disclosures filed Monday with the Federal Election Commission. The pro-Romney PAC, or political action committee, spent $12.3 million alone on TV, Internet and radio ads that went after former U.S. House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich, Romney's chief rival at the time. Challenging Gingrich's ethics and judgment, the ads helped propel Romney to victory in the Florida primary on January 31 and gave Gingrich a public relations problem from which he has not recovered. Now, with Romney facing a new challenge from former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum in the Michigan primary on February 28, Restore Our Future is spending another $7.7 million in several key states -- including Michigan, where the PAC has spent $1.8 million on ad spots.

Most of it seems to have been spent at the Drudge Report.
Must be hice ro be so rich Willie Mitty...
ASh how many hungry people did you feed in Jan ???
I’ll wair....
$13.5 million and Santorum STILL has left Romney in the dust!
Meh...small potatos. Once the campaign really gets going, say May or June, Obama and his PACs will be spending much more much more than that every hour.

That may be true, but it may not mean much.
My view is that the whole election is decided in OH, FL, PA, NC, and VA.
And the folks there will be ready to jump out second story windows from being bombarded with all the adverts.
That’s a great graphic except that FR endorsed Newt and that $13.5 million was spent on destroying him.
IMO, Santorum has not witnessed the firepower of a fully armed and operational political campaign. There are 8 days left. I expect the positive Romney campaign to build from now till the 23rd (day after the primary) and for the long knives to come out from the 23rd to the 28th. Doubt it will be as nasty as with Newt but Newt makes it so darn easy.
Still, the fact is that Romney ate Newt alive, in addition to the Ads and Rubio (the lefty :) going all out for Romney. But ok... It's understandable that he lost...badly... but then, Nothing happened.
I an enjoying RS surge tremendously for several reasons, given the fact I am a "Social Conservative" first. It is nice to see a guy fight back and gain confidence and still not be afraid to tell like it is (his way!)... very refreshing.
In conclusion, NEWT should get a huge boost from his win in GA... the perfect opportunity to surge back to the top and keep fighting. RS can very easily make a big mistake (everybody, including many here in FR wants him to lose - I KNOW THAT!) and if he does, Newt should be ready to seize the chance.. but NEWT HAS TO DO IT!... Rick did it, why not him?... ONLY HE CAN DO IT!
In any case, Little Ricky, is making the race very interesting for us who like him :) He should at least get credit he is one HOLDING Shitty-Rombo... or he would be gone by now!
...Inresting articles on why this guy is a nothing, an empty suit... feels "empty."
