Britain's only female Royal Marine Commando has ditched her standard military greens for gleaming wedding dress white.
Major Pip Tattersall, 37, married Sergeant Stuart Delamere-Wright of the Royal Dragoon Guards in a private ceremony at Glen Tanar Chapel in Royal Deeside.
Officer Pip from Tarland, Aberdeenshire met her husband-to-be in November 2010, while competing at the annual Army Snowboarding Championship in Austria.

.....

.....
Pip is the only female to have passed the nine-week course to win her Royal Marines green beret, a course which is regarded as one of the toughest in the world.
Despite two failed attempts, she persevered and overcame the physical challenges through sheer determination and drive to become the first woman to wear the coveted beret.
Now Pip, who is involved in training medics for deployment to Afghanistan, wants to start a family.

God bless both of them.

"I could never love anyone who didn't outrank me."
- Major Margaret Houlihan.
Major marries sergeant? In the U.S. armed forces, that is fraternization and highly frowned upon (by officers, anyway!).

I always thought officers were not allowed to fratrinize (sic)with enlisted troops or am I missing something here?

Hung jury. She is sort of mannish looking, even in her wedding gown...
Wow, and they’re of opposite sexes, too. How counter-cultural.
Seriously, good for them.
I'm not convinced.
At the very least, the bride is not comfortable in a woman's role.
That part of the story, about wanting to start a family, was pretty convincing. Unless they plan to buy one at Marks and Spencer.
They’re Brits, not Yanks.
How many terrycloth bath towels did they have to kill to make that dress?
On fraternization. In the British forces, the rules are different from those that apply in the US forces. A relationship is not permitted between those of significantly different ranks in the same chain of command or where one is in a position of responsibility over the other. Beyond that, as long as it is not judged to have an adverse effect on efficiency or operational effectiveness, it is generally permissable.
As both a Sergeant and a Major would, prima facie, be considered to be capable of exercising sensible, intelligent, and militarily sound judgement, if they are in a separate chain of command - no problem.
Bet the Sergeant knows now, that the Major is the Household - 6.
She’s a Royal Marine and he’s Royal Dragoons (Army).
Actually, she’s Army as well - passed the Royal Marine Commando course but that is open to other services and they can earn the green beret. She’s in the Adjutant General’s Corps.
It's not fraternization - they're not in the same chain of command.
It might have been be frowned upon as a cross-cultural marriage (Army:Navy), but this is the 21st century.
As proved by your requirement that she have 3 kids by age 25....
She is 37 and a Royal Marine. She isn't going to look like a South Beach Princess. With those factors in place, she is great.
She is a pretty woman with a great smile. I wish her and the new husband all the best!
