LORAIN, Ohio — It used to be called illegitimacy. Now it is the new normal. After steadily rising for five decades, the share of children born to unmarried women has crossed a threshold: more than half of births to American women under 30 occur outside marriage.
Once largely limited to poor women and minorities, motherhood without marriage has settled deeply into middle America. The fastest growth in the last two decades has occurred among white women in their 20s who have some college education but no four-year degree, according to Child Trends, a Washington research group that analyzed government data.
Among mothers of all ages, a majority — 59 percent in 2009 — are married when they have children. But the surge of births outside marriage among younger women — nearly two-thirds of children in the United States are born to mothers under 30 — is both a symbol of the transforming family and a hint of coming generational change.
One group still largely resists the trend: college graduates, who overwhelmingly marry before having children. That is turning family structure into a new class divide, with the economic and social rewards of marriage increasingly reserved for people with the most education.
“Marriage has become a luxury good,” said Frank Furstenberg, a sociologist at the University of Pennsylvania.
The shift is affecting children’s lives. Researchers have consistently found that children born outside marriage face elevated risks of falling into poverty, failing in school or suffering emotional and behavioral problems.

Right on.
The chart in the article is scary. Illegitimacy just going up and up. It will eventually plateau but where is anybody’s guess. Have a demographic race between the parasites and their kids, lots more of them will cause future societal problems, vs. 2 parent families and it looks like the later is losing. We are so screwed.
It’s also a case that most women have either given up on finding the right man or they honestly believe some great guy is out there willing to marry her and her brood.
Fortunately for me, I am not that great guy and I know enough to stay away from all the Octomums.
We have become a very sick — probably terminally ill — society. When males were in charge, there was immorality; deemed and condemned as such. Now that women dominate (and harbor no doubt; they do), we have descended into amorality, where there is no right or wrong.
Hitler said his goal was to “raise a generation without a conscience.” Where he failed, we have succeeded. And we will reap the whirlwind.

Damn right it’s a luxury good, and the more young people who overcome the sexualizing of the culture and realize the truth in it stand to inherit that luxury.
No doubt she’s teaching her young son what his worth is to her as a person.
It is not just the parasitical females, it is also the disgusting, verminous males that spread their seed and assume that the productive members of society will take care of their progeny.
We have created a permanent dependent underclass. And, they vote.
Men have always wanted to spread their “seed” but until post-World War II society women were very effective at being the gatekeepers and “civilizing” the men.
