Bruce Springsteen wants to see the United States transformed into something closer to a Swedish-style welfare state, the rock legend said Thursday as he unveiled his latest studio album The Wrecking Ball to reporters.

does he mean he wants the US to be more WHITE like Sweden?...sounds racist to me....
Sounds like the time I accompanied my ex to see Steve
Earle in downtown Seattle back in ‘08.
Turned into a Obama campaign rally. I sat on my hands and
finally was axed to leave by the secutiry guards for my own safety.
I still don’t know what made me madder; the praise for the One or the assertion that just because he murdered someone
he is not a criminal.
I’ve been reading Stieg Larsson’s books,, and my girlfriend is tired of my railing against that DF country and their stupid take on life. In one book a woman is warned that if her stalker breaks in, and she kills him with a golf club, she could be convicted of manslaughter. If she placed several clubs throughout the house for easy access, she could be convicted of premeditated murder. What a bunch of pansy a**es.
O’Reilly had Steve Earle on one night, and Earle’s arguments were so lame, O’Relly dismissed him out of hand. No wonder he lives in Greenwich Village with all the other village idiots.

Well, it would make sense that he’d say this since it was SWEDEN where he made his millions and it was all that SWEDISH disposable income that bought his albums, right? Ohhhhh, no it wasn’t...Because in the 1970s and 1980s when he was making the millions that have allowed him to sit leisurely on his butt for decades spouting off his big, uninformed mouth—Sweden was busy going being insolvent, restructuring it’s welfare state and devaluing it’s currency.
Sorry for the multiple posts. iPads are NOT good for posting on FreeRepublic.
John Prine is a great favorite of mine. I love his music, and his lyrics are truly brilliant. I’ve never heard him express a political opinion and that’s the way I prefer my artists to be. Springsteen lost me a long time ago. He used to write about timeless themes: hope, despair, joy, longing, and about life’s small but invaluable comforts. When he turned to left-wing politics, he became shrill and narrow-minded.
JP does pretty much walk the line but some of his music does echo the leftist agenda.
What springs to mind is “Some Humans Ain’t Human” where he railed against G W Bush. Not that I’m m a W fan but it bugged me.
Countering that was his comment on one of his signature songs “Paradise” where he explained that while it was sad to see the town destroyed, he realized the coal and other resources underneath the town were more important.
He’s still my favorite no matter what.
LUTEFISK! Bruce eat some LUTEFISK!
I’ve always believed that Springsteen was way highly overrated anyhoo.
I am glad he said this. It gives young people an idea of who he is. It is easy to listen to ‘Born in the USA’ and forget who he really is.
"And Daddy, won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County, down by the Green River, where Paradise lay. I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in askin'. Mr. Peabody's coal train has hauled it away..."
I always took that as a warning against thoughtless plunder as opposed to intelligent development. I guess I forgave him that because of his keen insights into human nature and his ability to capture them in life's little vignettes:
"Feelings are strange especially when they come true
And I had a feelin' that you'd be leavin' soon
So I tried to rearrange all my emotions
But it seems the same no matter what I do.
"A blue umbrella rests upon my shoulder
To hide the pain while the rain makes up my mind
Well, my feet are wet from thinking this thing over
And it's been so long since I felt the warm sunshine
Just give me one good reason
And I promise I won't ask you any more
Just give me one extra season
So I can figure out the other four..."
Yet another millionaire liberal pretending to be populist.
He’d leave is we were like Sweden because of the high tax rates.
BTW, his music SUCKS!
Sweden has a population of 9,103,788.
Massachusetts has 6,587,536.
There you go.
