JP does pretty much walk the line but some of his music does echo the leftist agenda.
What springs to mind is “Some Humans Ain’t Human” where he railed against G W Bush. Not that I’m m a W fan but it bugged me.
Countering that was his comment on one of his signature songs “Paradise” where he explained that while it was sad to see the town destroyed, he realized the coal and other resources underneath the town were more important.
He’s still my favorite no matter what.
I’ve always believed that Springsteen was way highly overrated anyhoo.
"And Daddy, won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County, down by the Green River, where Paradise lay. I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in askin'. Mr. Peabody's coal train has hauled it away..."
I always took that as a warning against thoughtless plunder as opposed to intelligent development. I guess I forgave him that because of his keen insights into human nature and his ability to capture them in life's little vignettes:
