“Conversely, the image that Newt is projecting is that of being the superior solutions guy, the intellectual heavyweight and the man who won’t back down from a fight. That’s the image a winner projects... “

I don’t want ‘superior’ solutions that some academic came up with after reading some sci-fi novel. I want conservative solutions that are tried, tested and true.

Real men fight battles. Instead of fighting, these 'gentlemen' chose to run and hide.

I hope Newt takes it to them by showing up everywhere they campaign and giving rebuttals to their spineless BS.

***Real men fight battles. Instead of fighting, these ‘gentlemen’ chose to run and hide.***

It could not have been expressed more succinctly.

Imagine in turn these scenarios:

1. Santorum debating three empty chairs? nahhh.... nope.

2. Romeny debating three empty chairs? nahhh.... nahhh....

3. Paulee debating three empty chairs? nahhh....ahhh??? nahhh....

The only vibrant articulately conservative (and Genuinely conservative... as opposed to severely conservative) scenario that works is Newt debating three empty chairs.

That said, I’ll happily take Santorum... but strive to get Newt!

If Newt’s ideas and solutions are so superior, why does he have to rely on a debate to win his home state primary? Why doesn’t he stop whining and get out on the stump and convince the voters he’s the best man for the job?

"Real men fight battles. Instead of fighting, these 'gentlemen' chose to run and hide."

Is that why Newt declined Santorum's challenge to a Lincoln-Douglas debate in December?

It was the Chairwoman of the Georgia Republican Party who screwed up. She didn’t have firm commitments from any of the candidates prior to announcing the debate. Why do you schedule a debate without knowing whether the candidates will attend?

Gingrich is still my war-horse.

Santorum has always been my #2 but this knocks him down a notch.

Newt Spokesman: Romney 'Spits In Georgia's Face' By Canceling Debate

Newt Gingrich's campaign is not happy with the news that a planned March 1 debate is falling apart after rivals Mitt Romney decided not to participate.

"[Romney] spits in Georgia's face and cancels Atlanta debate appearence," Newt spokesman RC Hammond tweeted. He later added that Iis Romneyy "won't stand up and debate his GOP competitors how will he face President Obama?"

If they cannot stand up to Newt, how can they debate Obama under this very pressure. This speaks volumes to me...

I’ve been trying to tell everybody, Newt is the only one with TRUE GRIT. If everybody would give him a chance, he would probably be the best president ever.

Given that Gingrich fell flat in the last two debates, and Santorum cleaned up by attacking Romney, who was kept on his heals, the author has a fundamental problem with his “argument”.

Romney is skipping because he gets nothing from debating. Santorum is skipping because Romney won’t be there.

Conservatives wouldn’t benefit from a debate without Romney; the mods would get the conservatives to fight each other, hurting both of them; Paul would help in that fight, and Romney would be the beneficiary.

Santorum has momentum and Romney has money. They have everything to lose and nothing to gain by debating Newt at this point. And Paul.. well.. he is Paul...

The fact that Romney and Santorum have backed out of the debate on March 1st does say something.

Why would Mitt ‘Mr. Inevitable’ Romney and Rick ‘Mr. Momentum’ Santorum run from the opportunity to debate ‘Down in the polls’ Newt Gingrich?

They have nothing to gain in a debate, so why would they debate. If we nominate a strong debater, Obama won’t debate either.
