Chavez in Blatant Anti-Semitic Attack on Rival

enezuela's ailing strongman Hugo Chavez unleashed a crude anti-Semitic attack on a rising opposition figure, Henrique Capriles Radonski, the New York Sun reported Thursday.

Capriles is a Catholic whose maternal grandparents were Jews from Poland. That makes him a Jew, by Jewish standards. He is emerging as a challenger to succeed Chavez, who suffers from cancer.

According to the Sun, a broadcast titled “The Enemy Is Zionism” on the main and official government radio station in Caracas said that Capriles had worked for private firms “linked to the interests of the Zionist bourgeoisie.” It called him part of a “fascist and paramilitary sect” in which “religious rites were practiced.” This "sect" allegedly planned to attack “everything that did not represent the national Aryan race.”

The broadcast accused Capriles of covertly representing Zionism, which, it said, “is hiding behind a religious and nationalist discourse” and “is the owner of most financial institutions in the world, controlling almost 80% of the global economy and communications industry almost entirely, while maintaining decision-making positions within the State Department and European powers.”

The government radio also claimed that Capriles recently met with the Confederation of Jewish Associations of Venezuela...

Dude, back in 1992, on the anniversary of the start of the Crown Heights riot, on the very corner that it started, I was surrounded by a crowd of snarling, fuming Jew-haters, one of whom kept screaming two inches from my face, “YOU A DEVIL!” (had I sneezed, he would have accidentally bitten me) while another one gave me a lecture on how the Jooos! were responsible for the slave trade. My provocation? I smiled at a little kid and he smiled back, while the self-same mob was busily engaged in splashing white paint all over a “racial harmony” fresco. Seeing me corrupt the morals of this five-year-old kid, they had to rush over and scream at me. The police did not intervene, and in fact made themselves scarce. The JDL did escort me from the scene.

“Increasing”? “Growing”? This ugliness has been around a long time, and what I saw that night was only a sample. It’s just getting “respectable” is all. The POTUS is ok with his pal Hugo. Fidel himself is nominally Jewish on both his mother and father’s side, and so is his mass-murdering brother Raul, but they’re still allies with him. Congressmen and women will still appear with him on TV, same as they do Abbas and anyone from Hamas who isn’t busy firing rockets into the Negev. It’s becoming normal.
