Federal Agents Inspect Your Child's Lunch

RUSH: This is from Rayford, North Carolina. Carolina Journal. I'm gonna read it to you exactly as it printed out here. "A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because a state employee told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious. The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day."

Again, let me read this to you again: "The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day." There are federal agents inspecting lunch boxes? See, I don't have kids. You heard of this? You heard of this, Snerdley? I know you don't have kids that you know of, either. I've not heard of federal agents inspecting lunch boxes. And furthermore I've not heard of agents declaring that what's in them is not nutritious enough and throwing them out and substituting three chicken nuggets.

"A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because a state employee told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious. The girl’s turkey-and-cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day." Again, let me read this to you again: "The girl’s turkey-and-cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice" were thrown out "did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes...

"The Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs -- including in-home day care centers -- to meet USDA guidelines. That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home. When home-packed lunches do not include all of the required items, child care providers must supplement them with the missing ones. The girl’s mother -- who said she wishes to remain anonymous to protect her daughter from retaliation -- said she received a note from the school stating that students who did not bring a 'healthy lunch' would be offered the missing portions, which could result in a fee from the cafeteria, in her case $1.25.

"'I don't feel that I should pay for a cafeteria lunch when I provide lunch for her from home,' the mother wrote in a complaint to her state representative... The girl’s grandmother, who sometimes helps pack her lunch, told Carolina Journal that she is a petite, picky 4-year-old who eats white whole wheat bread and is not big on vegetables. 'What got me so mad is, number one, don’t tell my kid I’m not packing her lunch box properly,' the girl’s mother [said]. 'I pack her lunchbox according to what she eats. It always consists of a fruit. It never consists of a vegetable. She eats vegetables at home because I have to watch her because she doesn’t really care for vegetables.'"

Do you believe this? I do! The food Nazis -- and, by the way, this is Michelle (My Belle)'s program: No Child's Behind Left Alone. Folks, what is going on here? Do you know what frightens me? This has probably going on and has been good guy a lot longer than I know because I don't have children. I wonder: How many people, how many parents are acquiescing to this? "When the girl came home with her lunch untouched, her mother wanted to know what she ate instead. Three chicken nuggets, the girl answered. Everything else on her cafeteria tray went to waste. 'She came home with her whole sandwich I had packed, because she chose to eat the nuggets on the lunch tray, because they put it in front of her,' her mother said. 'You're telling a 4-year-old. "Oh. you’re lunch isn’t right," and she’s thinking there’s something wrong with her food.'" What is wrong with a turkey sandwich and a banana?

Take a break. What do you mean, I don't care about the children? Don't tell me that! That's BS.

“note from the school stating that students who did not bring a ‘healthy lunch’ would be offered the missing portions, which could result in a fee from the cafeteria, in her case $1.25.”

This is all about making kids and parents who don’t fall in line cough up the fees for the school lunch program. It doesn’t matter what you bring, we can declare it unfit for your child, just pay us money.

Are State funded trash Nazis standing at the trash cans to ensure that the children are not tossing this fine nutritious lunch in the trash?

Highway/Interstate speed limits and seat belt laws are a good example of this.

I seem to remember a great hew and cry about national speed limits in the 70's but people now have grown weary of fighting and have slumped into line with the directives.

Hannah Arendt would be proud

BTW has anyone else wondered why automobile registration's have to be renewed (and a fee paid) annually when I have the same car and the same plates?

It's a form of property tax more than anything.

I lived in NC eleven years. First, there are federal dollars attached to every book, every meal, and every school bus rider. NC is broke, has been broke and is getting worse under “suspend elections for two years Gov Perdue”. They are desperately extorting every federal dollar and every citizen dollar they can. Perdue had privileged passes to Federal unemployment numbers (per EL Rushbo). Raleigh is closer to DC than you think. In short, this state meal Nazi, got a few federal dollars for this meal, remember it is exponential. If they can increase the federal money by X amount, NC will do it. That is why there are school bus rider “audits, btw.. federal money. Our Money.
I would report this as Federal Fraud, if I were the parents. See something, say something.

“”State employees have become the agents/toads of the federal government.
This is what `federalism’ has become.””

So true. And local employees have become the agents/toads of the state government.

Yep, the old `carrot or (not `and’) the stick’

You owe me $10.00. I don’t have to ask you: You face possible criminal penalties, along with interest and penalties, for not forking it over regularly.

I give you back $5.00 on condition that you do what I say. Then I turn around and spend $15.00.

Cloud cuckoo land. This is the way the world ends.

That’s true, the nanny-mommy-daddy-big-brother-dependency state is a bigger problem than just the Federales, but if we can radically chop down the Federal Kudzu, the weeds in each State by State garden plot will be far more easy to deal with.

Many States — Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, others — are already rapidly downsizing state bureaucracies.

My point is not to excuse federal intrusion, but to point out that state governments can be every bit as intrusive, and often are more intrusive, than the federal government.

Many FReepers and other conservatives like to talk about "state sovereignty" or "states' rights" or romanticize the Tenth Amendment, but the lived reality is that state governments and municipal governments are not appreciably better than the federal and are usually more expensive to boot.

And it is North Carolina that we're talking about here. North Carolina has decided to take this power to the extreme, unfortunately. Not sure why, always thought there were quite a few Conservatives there, but guess not.

Sent the "note" back with payment. Include one of these...

Tell them they can keep their "change" as well.

Not only would I not tell them to keep the change, I would bill the school and the SEIU for the young girl’s food that was thrown away PLUS sue for damages and trauma.

I will be surprised if no pain and suffering lawsuit surfaces as a result of this storm trooper action.

Where are those ambulance chasing lawyers when you really need them ?

The State and Federal agents of Liberal Insanity are groping us at airports; dictating what our children eat in the schools while the NEA brainwashes them into becoming good Liberals. Ya think their next step will be in our bedrooms? Think about it and pray that the clueless wake up before we’re living in the Regime’s planned reproduction of 1930’s Germany. Meanwhile, the eunuchs in DC look for their gonads with both hands and a mirror and find nothing and say absolutely nothing to expose the treachery in DC. You know their names! Vote them out in November 2012 before you have no freedom(s) left.
