Bourque Industries' Level III Body Armor is NIJ Certified

Bourque Industries today announced that the Company has earned National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certification for its Level III stand-alone Kryron Terminator Armor – under the model designation KT-MIA-II – complying with the most recent and rigorous NIJ Standard-0101.06.

NIJ certification is a prerequisite for most US law enforcement agencies when purchasing personal body armor for its officers. This essential government stamp of approval allows Bourque's innovative Kryron Terminator Armor to be marketed and sold to federal law enforcement, state police, sheriff's offices, and municipal police forces across the country.

Bourque's Level III armor joins the Level II Ultralight, the Thinline, and Bourque's custom .50 caliber AP-capable lightweight vehicle armor solutions in the company's Terminator line of ballistic armor products.

“This is a great day for Bourque Industries and its shareholders. Now that NIJ has certified our armor, the law enforcement agencies around the world that have been waiting for our innovative Terminator products are now allowed to purchase from Bourque Industries,” said John M. Bourque, Founder and CEO. “The timing of the certification is perfect, as we are now bringing online our new large-scale manufacturing processes to be able to meet the demand for our newly-certified Level III armor systems.”

In NIJ testing at Oregon Ballistic Laboratories in October of last year, Bourque's Level III stand-alone Kryron Terminator Armor System demonstrated its industry-leading multi-impact capabilities by defeating all six 7.62x51 FMJ NATO rounds within the standard 44mm back face deformation standards. Bourque reached this performance milestone on all of its Level III body armor panels tested.

Kryron Terminator Armor also provides additional advantages over competing armor that are essential for the survivability of law enforcement and military personnel. Terminator armor eliminates ricochet and spall – shrapnel from the bullet and armor, respectively – because Kryron armor works by catching bullets instead of shattering and deflecting them.

For those who have been following this "bulletproof" armor - the fatboy plates are now NIJ certified.

As the softhearted jury members listen the Attorney says to the defendant: “So, you were protected by Terminator Armor as you terminated the life of this young victim of society who was just turning his life around.”

It would be smarter to give stuff names that have less aggressive connotations.

This is big amazing stuff. It will even stop .50 cal AP. It must knock the guy across the room.

Kryron Terminator Aluminum Alloy Multi-Hit Ballistic Armor Plate
These new ballistic plates with the recent independent testing have taken multiple .50 Caliber armor piercing rounds and .30 caliber AP ammunition, then reversed and shot with the same rounds again, with no penetration, ricochet, shatter or spall.” And, that’s not all. These are with a lightweight armor plate designed for personal body armor.

A Kryron Terminator Thin Line plate “sustained several dozen rounds of 9mm machine gun fire at exceptionally close range with no penetration, ricochet, shatter or spall.” Can you even fathom that . That is unbelievable. These rounds will go through an engine block and still kill someone inside the car and exit the trunk area.

The positive results were achieved with weight savings over the present industry-standard personal protection armor plates,” according to a Beacon Equity Research story.

The Kryron utilizes a patented nanotechnology process that utilizes carbon nanotubes and some proprietary manufacturing technique to turn metal alloy, and specifically aluminum alloy, into a multi-hit ballistic armor that can pull double duty as an ultra-conductive and corrosion-resistant material for electrical wire and components.

John Bourque is currently going through N.I.J. testing now and with these new Kryron ballistic plates and with these impressive results from independent testing.

It is sure to pass with flying colors.

These are the perfect marriage with my new ballistic (CRU) Guardian uniform.
I have calls in to the owner now.

...9mm machine gun fire...These rounds will go through an engine block and still kill someone inside the car and exit the trunk area.

Pretty sure you were referring to the .50 cal?
My trusty old Colt Commander .9mm may be more useful than I imagine.

They must be talking about some other type of 9mm than what I shoot. My 9mm has trouble knocking over steel plates but theirs will go through an engine block, a person, and still exit the trunk. Ignoring the improbable trajectory that's some powerful stuff.

Does this magical 9mm also shoot down helicopters and the space shuttle? Or is it merely limited to taking out tanks and any ships smaller than a destroyer?

Yeah, I know, I'm being a wiseguy, and I know you were referring to the .50 AP (or at least I hope you were). This armor sounds like it is pretty fantastic stuff...if the claims are to be believed. I'd like to see a video with only non-employees of the manufacturer involved.

I’d say, buy a plate and give it a go.

I’ve held some of the shot plates and a helmet. Pretty incredible stuff. For NIJ it stopped all of the NATO rounds, which I think was unprecedented... since most plates are shattered after the third round.
