SAN JOSE -- Police are looking for several men who stomped to death a 4-pound mini-Yorkshire terrier that was trying to protect its owner from an attack in San Jose over the weekend, authorities said.
The dog's owner said he was walking the 6-year-old dog, Shadow, at Winchester Boulevard and Colonial Way about 2 p.m. Saturday when three men approached and asked if he was a gang member.
The owner, a 32-year-old floor installer who asked that his name be withheld for safety reasons, said he had denied gang involvement, but the men attacked him anyway.

Disgusting. I did not read the whole article yet but I hope tread that they have those guys in custody
This shows how very devoid, dead and rotting the gang heart has become. Who could kill a sweet little dog, so tiny, but still so valiant?
You are mistaken. There are breeders who specialize in them. They are sometimes also referred to as Teacup Yorkies. Depending on the breeder they are also (imo) absurdly expensive.
Poor little thing. I used to have a yorkie. They are SO adorable.
I think they knew he wasn’t. They were just looking for an “excuse” to assault him.
Just on their way to midnight bassetbaw.
The poor little thing was a better finer creature as a dog then his human attackers.
Four pounds. Just about what my Ruger Redhawk weighs.
CK? So they’d better not wear anything with the Calvin Klein logo, either.
Teacup Yorkie- sell for thousands
Good, brave little dog. Bless his heart.
Curse the scum.
You mean the Katricians?
You got that right.
Loyal dogs will take on anyone; Godspeed to that little Fido.
Katrinians?
You may be right. Gang bangers frequently put out signals of their affiliation, looking for counter-signs, friendly or enemy.
This can get bizarre, because they get so focused on this, they look for gang signs everywhere, even far out of their ‘hood, and from people who obviously are not gang bangers.
I got to examine this first hand, while in a good neighborhood far away from any gang area, driving with an elderly man. At the time I was wearing a cowboy hat and mirrored sunglasses. Leaving a grocery store parking lot, I asked him if we should turn right or left for our destination, and held up my hand to point in either direction. He held up his hand to point right.
Just then I noticed two gang banger types in a cruddy car, with colored bandanas on their heads, and a look of utter rage on their faces, vigorously making gang signs to try and attract my attention. Fortunately they were perpendicular to my route of travel, in such a way that it would have been difficult for them to maneuver their cruddy car back towards us, or even to take an effective shot if they had been armed.
Which would have been foolish, because at the time I had a sawed off shotgun holster with a side by side of 00 shot.
I expect they would have thought twice if he were walking a doberman.
