.........Verniece Zorn, a 70-year-old retired printing company worker, said she made a promise to herself years ago that if Gingrich ever ran for president, she would support him. She liked the newsletters he had sent her as a Georgia congressman. Zorn, who identifies herself as an evangelical Christian, said she has looked beyond Gingrichs multiple marriages and acknowledged infidelities, and she believes he is the most capable leader in the race.
None of us are perfect. We all have our little hang-ups, said Zorn, of Stockbridge. Hes my first choice. I believe he knows more than all of them put together.
As for issues the voters care about, the economy trumps everything else, including tax reform, health care, the national debt and social issues such as same-sex marriage and abortion. Thats true virtually no matter how you slice the electorate, the poll found. Some groups nonevangelicals, those without a college degree are especially focused on economic issues, but no group rates other concerns above the economy.
The poll, conducted for the AJC and the Georgia Newspaper Partnership, surveyed 625 likely GOP primary voters Monday through Wednesday. Gingrich was the choice of 43 percent of respondents, followed by Mitt Romney with 29 percent, Rick Santorum with 12 percent and Ron Paul with 6 percent.
Georgians will go to the polls on March 6, Super Tuesday. With 76 GOP delegates, Georgia is the biggest prize among the 10 states voting that day....
Romney polled better than Gingrich among voters who said they were not evangelical and those who described themselves as moderate or liberal, but those groups were in the minority.....

Is it possible they've spent even a minute not talking about Whitney Houston?
Newt ought to win GA easily. But he is running out of cash quickly, with Adelson on the sidelines (reportedly), and his campaign’s momentum imploding since S.C. If he is going to make a move it must be in February. Oppo research is the key.
Let’s get real about Newts baggage. His first marriage was doomed from the beginning. He was a high school senior involved with his 26 year old teacher. They married when he graduated from high school and immediately had a baby. I think it is pretty miraculous with that kind of “baggage” that he still excelled, completed college and continued his education. His second marriage, as many second marriages do, failed. He was married to her close to twenty years. They were separated for four years in the 1990s, reconciled and divorced after the failed reconciliation. I think there is plenty of reason to believe, because of various interviews, that she was a manipulative and vindictive person. I have not heard one charge of rape, assault, domestic violence, non payment of child support, alcoholism, or drug usage. Stop the baggage crap, it is a myth created by those who do not want Newt in power.
Some don’t seem to realize there is a difference between flawed and repugnant. I’ll vote for a flawed candidate, but not one that is repugnant.
Newt is flawed; Mitt is repugnant.
Newt needs to be differentiated from the Tea-Parrots (ie the bullshyte artist politicians trying to ride on the coat tails of American Ideals whilst confusing the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence), not propped up as their point man.
Let him stand on his own merits and character.
Just donated to Newt for the third time. I just looked on his site under “Events”, and the only thing listed is the Arizona debate. I hope more is coming. He can’t back off now, and he needs to continue promoting his specific policy proposals like he did in his CPAC speech, and not let Romney and Santorum get away with vague, general platitudes.
Bee Ess! Even FNC said Mitt shipped in enough peple to buy last night's straw poll. He's been beaten so badly lately that he had to buy a lousy, good for nothin' straw poll to give himself some good news! Bwahahaha!
And there are those couples like Bill and Hillary who stay together out of political convenience despite rape allegations and a long history as a sexual predator.
Or like Mr 0b0t0 and his wookie beard.
Its time to rally behind Mitt...for good or bad./s.
Hey maineman: You forgot the sarcasm tag so I added it for you.
Only good thing about that coverage of Mittens fake victories yesterday are buried due to Whitney coverage.
Sorry but if I hear “You are the greatest love of all” one more time, I’m going to be sick.
Right. Let's support someone who advocates pulling unborn children half way out of the womb, puncturing their little skulls and sucking their brains out over someone who was unfaithful to their spouse about twenty years ago.
SCREW YOU AND MITT RINO!
Sharpton’s been all over tv this morning, but the saga isn’t complete until Jesse Jackson shows up.
Maybe his private jet is in for maintenance.

The Thirteen Colonies began a rebellion against British rule in 1775 and proclaimed their independence in 1776 as the United States of America. In the American Revolutionary War (17751783) the American capture of the British invasion army at Saratoga in 1777 secured the Northeast and encouraged the French to make a military alliance with the United States. France brought in Spain and the Netherlands, thus balancing the military and naval forces on each side as Britain had no allies.[17] General George Washington (17321799) proved an excellent organizer and administrator, who worked successfully with Congress and the state governors, selecting and mentoring his senior officers, supporting and training his troops, and maintaining an idealistic Republican Army. His biggest challenge was logistics, since neither Congress nor the states had the funding to provide adequately for the equipment, munitions, clothing, paychecks, or even the food supply of the soldiers. As a battlefield tactician Washington was often outmaneuvered by his British counterparts. As a strategist, however, he had a better idea of how to win the war than they did. The British sent four invasion armies. Washington’s strategy forced the first army out of Boston in 1776, and was responsible for the surrender of the second and third armies at Saratoga (1777) and Yorktown (1781). He limited the British control to New York and a few places while keeping Patriot control of the great majority of the population. The Loyalists, whom the British counted upon too heavily, comprised about 20% of the population but never were well organized. As the war ended, Washington watched proudly as the final British army quietly sailed out of New York City in November 1783, taking the Loyalist leadership with them. Washington astonished the world when, instead of seizing power for himself, he retired quietly to his farm in Virginia.[18] Political scientist Seymour Martin Lipset observes, “The United States was the first major colony successfully to revolt against colonial rule. In this sense, it was the first ‘new nation’.”[19]
Trumbull’s Declaration of Independence
On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress, meeting in Philadelphia, declared the independence of “the United States of America” in the Declaration of Independence. July 4 is celebrated as the nation’s birthday. The new nation was founded on Enlightenment ideals of liberalism in what Thomas Jefferson called the unalienable rights to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” and dedicated strongly to republican principles. Republicanism emphasized the people are sovereign (not hereditary kings), demanded civic duty, feared corruption, and rejected any aristocracy.[20]
In the 1780s the national government was able to settle the issue of the western territories, which were ceded by the states to Congress and became territories; soon they became states. Nationalists worried that the new nation was too fragile to withstand an international war, or even internal revolts such as the Shays’ Rebellion of 1786 in Massachusetts. Nationalistsmost of them war veteransorganized in every state and convinced Congress to call the Philadelphia Convention in 1787. The delegates from every state wrote a new Constitution that created a much more powerful and efficient central government, one with a strong president, and powers of taxation. The new government reflected the prevailing republican ideals of guarantees of individual liberty and upon constraining the power of government through a system of separation of powers.
To assuage the Anti-Federalists who feared a too-powerful national government, the nation adopted the United States Bill of Rights in 1791. Comprising the first ten amendments of the Constitution, it guaranteed individual liberties such as freedom of speech and religious practice, jury trials, and stated that citizens and states had reserved rights (which were not specified).
Committing freepicide on the day Mitt wins the Maine Caucus, huh? There's just something ironic about that.
Oh well... Bye!
