AND THIS TOO SHALL PASS
An Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which would be true and appropriate in all times and in all situations. They presented him with the words:
And this, too, shall pass away.
~ Abraham Lincoln
30 September 1859

"This too shall pass" (Persian: این نیز بگذرد, Arabic: كله ماشي, Hebrew: גם זה יעבור, Turkish: Bu da geçer) is a proverb indicating that all material conditions, positive or negative, are temporary. The phrase seems to have originated in the writings of the medieval Persian Sufi poets, and is often attached to a fable of a great king who is humbled by the simple words.
Some versions of the fable, beginning with that of Attar of Nishapur, add the detail that the phrase is inscribed on a ring, which therefore has the ability to make the happy man sad and the sad man happy.
Jewish folklore often describes Solomon as giving or receiving the phrase.
The proverb and associated fable were popular in the first half of the 19th century, appearing in a collection of tales by the English poet Edward Fitzgerald and being employed in a speech by Abraham Lincoln before he became President.

Unanswered Prayer
February 12, 2012
The apostle Paul had one overriding desire: that fellow Jews would embrace the Messiah he had encountered. I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart, he said. For I could wish that I myself were . . . cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers (Rom. 9:2-3 NIV). Yet in city after city his fellow Jews rejected him and the Christ he preached.
In his most elegant letter, Paul set as his centerpiece (Rom. 911) a passionate passage in which he struggled openly with this great unanswered prayer of his life. He acknowledged one important side benefit of this distressing development: The Jews rejection of Jesus led to His acceptance by the Gentiles. Paul concluded that God hadnt rejected the Jews; to the contrary, they had the same opportunity as Gentiles. God had widened, not closed, the embrace of humanity.
Pauls prose began to soar as he stepped back to consider the big picture. And then came this burst of doxology:
Oh, the depth of the riches
both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are His judgments
and His ways past finding out! (Rom. 11:33).
The unsolved mysteries and unanswered prayers all fade to gray against the panorama of Gods plan for the ages.
In the end, unanswered prayer brings me face to face with the mystery that silenced Paul: the profound difference between my perspective and Gods.
Prayer imparts the power to walk and not faint. Chambers
Read: Romans 11:26-36
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways.
Isaiah 55:9

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

A Hospital Corpsmans Prayer
LORD, AS I EMBARK upon this path that You, in Your infinite wisdom, have set before me, I pray that You will guide my hand, my heart and my mind. Keep me faithful to my oath, always aware of the seriousness of my duties, and above all the sacredness of life. Let me not be a glory seeker, but rather a servant, as You the Great Physician to whom all Glory belongs, served even us. Help me face the trials before me, death of those I come to love, and personal disappointments without losing heart or faith. May I place first the welfare of those entrusted to my care, and self last. Above all Lord, protect me from my pride, for there is nothing I can do through what skill I may possess that is not in Your Will that it be done. Amen

Good evening to you, Mac...*HUGS*...hope you are feeling better today.
A Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
Did you see your daughter off yesterday? Prayers will continue for her safety and success of mission.
Another warm day here. With several days of the same, some main roads are ice and snow free and dry. Not a single slippery place (except parking lots...but I can get them to the front door) getting both my Mom and Dad to separate appointments.

I love those Rube Goldberg set ups. The crazy imagination one must have to pull them off is amazing.
Thanks for sharing.

My daughter's flight was cancelled - have no idea why - and she is now scheduled to depart tomorrow afternoon at 6:00 p.m. We're in the high 20's now but no snow or ice on the roads. I hope your mom and dad are doing well.
